Is being educated not cool?

Through the last months I gained the impression that it isn't cool to be well-educated. At least in Germany...

Whenever I talk to someone except my close friends I realize that using foreign words causes general incomprehension... And they don't think it's a bad sign that they don't have a clue of what's going on in the world ...

Is it no longer cool to be smart?

Everyone calls smart people 'geeks' at my school. I get the piss taken for using long words at lot.

I don't mind...as long as my intelligence is at a satisfactory level for me, balls to what anyone else thinks of it.

I don't care what the other's think about me ... but in Germany there's a lack of smart people you can actually talk with ...

But I don't think its necessarily un-cool to be smart, I think people just don't like others using word/ talking about things they don't understand. They think you're showing off in a "oh look at me I'm better than you" sort of way.

It never really was cool to be smart. There used to be people in my old school who admired me because I was 'clever' ... many people just thought I was a geek. It's pretty much an excuse to make dumb people feel better about themselves because some say geeks aren't very outgoing... they're pathetic and they don't have a life. That's not true... but if it makes people feel smug and happy about themselves... let them be. They're believing the wrong facts anyway.

People look down at me like I'm trash and teachers seem to enjoy slapping 'C' on my work so everyone can look, stare and think I'm dumb because of a fucking letter. I hate how one single fucking stupid letter is dictating my knowledge. They know fuck all.

Eugh... I just feel like at school.. I'm living life (if I'm living it at all) behind a thick glass shield. No one knows how much I know, really..

They don't know how much I know about the world. They don't know how fucked up I am in my mind and at the same time, they don't realise I have my own opinions. Almost everyone shares the same one-sided opinion.

At first, I didn't care about this stuff. I still quite don't... but it disgusts me alot because I'm the one who's losing all the marks. School is a waste of my time. And I find homework pretty pointless... I wanna study the subjects I need and like.

How is this a serious topic? IS being intelligent cool? Seriously, you see all these people with dreams to do great things, but actually doing your math homework would result in being burned at the stake in the social chain, but who fucking cares? When your the person who finds the cure to the common cold or wins a nobel prize, they will be the one's waiting in the unemployment line.

What I think we should be talking about is WHY it's not cool...getting down to the nitty gritty. Think about the human pyschology...why people act like they do.
