Desecration of Cemeteries/Respect for the Dead

| Maiku's Kind Ghost King For A Couple Of Days  Age: - Gender: - Posts: 2102  | I went to a Cemetery with one of my freinds today, she lives right down the street from one and we thought it would be neat to check it out. it was old, the oldest grave was from 1860 with a few modern ones scattard in random places. the thing that sadden/pissed us off was that some of grave stones were ripped up and broken and there was random pices of trash like liquor bottles on ground. Considering that this Cemertery was 1. a Historitic site and 2. a place were people "live", shouldn't it be treated with respect? Even though the people that dwell there are dead? And if it's not against the law, shouldn't it be? |

He/she's gone and its their spirt that matters, what they did and how they felt when they were alive. It may sound very inconsiderate (sp?) but it's how I feel. A body is just a form of communation, a vehicle, a vessle to get around, it's just a shell around what really matters, our soul and what controls our body. The grave yard near my house where my father is buried, is very clean, except for some ciggarette butts here and there. But the thing that really pisses me off is that we had a statue of an angel on top of my fathers grave stone, and someone actually had the nerve to steal it. It should be a chargable offence if someone messes with cemetaries. |

I recently visited my Uncles grave and I just remember how nice eveything looked, it sort of made it easier to know that hes gone, but to think his body was being left somewhere, where it would be mistreated and vandalized, I don't think I could cope with that. |

Those sort of people have no respect for themselfs so why shoudl they respect the dead? If anyone ripped up my family members head stome i would be very upset and i would make sure i went ot the police and had it logged at least, (there's not a lot they can/will do) what i would like to know is what go's through these peoples heads, it's almost has though hanging around a graveyard is a fun thing to do at night, for christ sake you'll spend enough time there when your dead why do it when you are alive. |

After all, the real important thing doesn't lie in stone and earth or have my name carved on it. Once im dead, it is my memory and my impact on the world I want to have remembered, not my tombstone. And that cannot be torn or broken by a vandal, no matter how hard they try. |
