i want to know what people think about this, right if anyone has had a Dr or surgeon screw up to the point where you're life will change for ever, you will understand what i am asking, is it right that these people can screw up and then not admit liabilty? Or should they be made to pay for what they have done? I know that mistakes happen and somthings are unavoidable, but what i am talking about is that you go into hospital and have the operation you so desperatly need and they screw you up so bad you are never going to be the same person again.

To me it seems that we put our faith in these poeple blindly and we are suppose to trust them with our lives and then just say ARE WELL THEY DID THEY'RE BEST!! And then when they do screw up we ahve problems finding a Dr who will go against the other one, and then we have to find a solicitor who will take the case and fight our corner.

Tell me what you all think.

Health care has really gone to shit these days. Usually, they're just out to get money.

What is REALLY sickening, though, is the people who claim that a certain product works yet it doesn't. For example, my mother cousin had cancer, and she started taking all this advice from "experts" instead of getting chemo, and she died because she didn't get chemo until the last minute.

i had a friend who was like that she died recently, but what prompted me to write my post was what the Dr's have done to me.

People are too harsh on the doctors. They have an incredibly hard, high pressure job and people think they can be perfect all the time.

so thats an excuse to fuck up has badly has they have? No they cant be perfect all the time but people have the right to come out of hospital an be healthy again. Ok let me tell you why i have posted this.

on january 12th this year i went into hospital for a TAH (total abdominal hysterecrtomy) i have suffered with severe pain in my stomach since i was sterlised (which by the way wasnt done right either) now the reason i had the hysterectomy is because i had/have severe endometriosis on my ovaries which i was told was cancer before christmas (again getting it wrong) so now 3 months on and i am expecting to feel better, but far from it i am still in severe pain and they admitted that they screwed up and left the ovaries in, My GP has told me that i will NEVER work again and that i shoudl just get used to the pain and take pain killers, and i ahve to also get used the the fact that my husband has to help me out the bath and walk with me to take my kids to school and i cant pick them up and that i never will be able to, my GP told me that many many OAP's have to rely on they're partners help, like that fucking makes me feel better i am only 34. I should be starting my life not having it end, no they cant be perfect all the time but they sure has hell think they are. I defie any Consultant of GP to live with the pain i am in 27/7 and lets see them change they're minds then. Al because women ahve problems with they're periods we are stuck aside and told to cope, Dr's and consultants are the scurge of the earth, they have fucked me up and i hope they are happy. I am not the only person who is suffering it also has a knock on effect to my children and partner. I will never trust GP's or consultants again has long has i live. Now you all kow why at times i am angry with the whole fucking system.

And I've probably (maybe) had more opeartions in my fourteen years of life than you have, not once has a doctor messed up. (I don't count the fact they left part of an organ inside me and it got infected-- that was always a possibility).

Some doctors mess up, some doctors are corrupt, some doctors make genuine mistakes, but some (like mine) don't. I really don't think they mean to do this to you; in fact i'm sure they never intended it.

so i am expected to adjust and be like this the rest of my life "i dont think so" i intend to fight this in court and i intend to win lets see them say then "we all make mistakes" The ovaries are the dangly bits they cant miss them so to me they intended to leave them in. Knowing that i will be in pain seeing that that was the reason i went into hospital in the first chuffing place.

You have a good case ad this thing shouldn't have happened to you but we have to think, there are plenty of good doctors in this world too.

Every person makes professional mistakes; whether you're a bin man who forgets to take away some old ladys trash or an accountant who adds up something wrong, but Docotrs are one of the rare few who actually get found out.

1 mistake out of.. lets say 100. so what if something went a little bit wrong. no-one is perfect. and whats better. being alive or dead? because to me thats what it boils down to. today we live in an age where its sue this, or compensation that. just be thankful you get healthcare and dont just have to die.

DOCTORS...heh....

.....mixed feelings....

as an UNTREATED manic depressive.....i'm a walking mistake....

....Doc feels it's more IMPORTANT....to treat the over-active thyroid FIRST...
which by the way......takes at least two years......that's BEST case scenario...

OH!!!! AND THEY FUCKED THAT Up!!!!!!!!
.......endured MONTHS of.....wrong medication.....'misplaced' records...
unreceived correspondence from the 'specialist.......
......AND.....blood tests....which apparantly 'fell off the back of the lorry'

.....yeah.......FUNNY AS FUCK....useless cunts

I agree.
Look at all the people they've saved.

I've never had any problems with doctors..although I never get ill to be honest.

Me included...I was ill for a while about 10 years ago and thanks to doctors they sorted it and I probably won't be ill again. So i'm grateful for them for fixing me.

I broke my arm once Retard

They gave me an amazing red plaster xD

And it was a tiny tiny TINY fracture in my arm. The doctor at the hospital was REALLY REALLY busy. Yet he still had the time to spot this miniscule fracture...and behold...I was healed.

Can I just sat that atleast in England you dont have to pay €50 to see a doctor.
It comes out of tax payers money.
Yes in Ireland we pay our tax but we also have to pay €50 to see the doctor.
And if there is nothing wrong with you, well thats too bad, it still costs.

right now to answer your question being dead is better than living in constant pain.

my adenoids have been enlarged since i was 8. About 6 years. I was constantly having migranes, so my mom took me to the doctor. He said there was nothing wrong, it was just stress. My mother took me to an ENT (ear nose and throat specialist)
So he ordered a sinus x-ray. The results said there was nothing wrong.
5 and a half year later, still living with constant migranes adn going to the doctor all the time, they found my adenoids were enlarged. They gave me antibiodics that just made it worse. I had to go to the emergency room because i couldnt breathe. They decided not to remove them until this summer, the swelling has gone down some. Last month i went to a neurologist, because i still had the migranes. He gave me a prescription for Imitrex and Topamax. Topamax is for adults, like 18 or 16 and up, I'm under that age.
The topamax made me sicker, causing a bit of my hair to fall out, not noticible though, nausea and generally i just got worse. My mom called him to see if i could stop taking it, that was 3 weeks ago, and he still hasnt answered I just stopped taking it.

the Healthcare system needsto improve.

Sorry for the ranting

Personally I've never had any trouble with the healthcare system. But I know there are lots of flaws in it. It does need to improve.

But would you rather get free health care that gets it right most the time. Or pay for private healthcare that isnt gurentied(sp) to be perfect either?

there not perfect, things are bound to go wrong that leads to terrible consequences, i could never be a surgeon it takes alot of courage to be able to face that type of stressful job day in day out.

My brother used to be a surgeon (he now has a cushy consultant job) and he's been sued before, although i don't know all the details except for the patient who tried to sue was full of shit and was found out.

sometimes they won't spot the problem or they'll forget to do something, but that doesn't justify labelling all surgeons as butchers who should be sued for every miner thing that goes wrong, because if that happens medical research will decrease because doctors will be to scared to try new techniques, it will also mean that as a career choice many people will not want to go downt hat road.

(although i think you have a valid liablity case)
