they say it's never ending..and it's creepy to sit and think about.
i believe there are thousands of worlds just like ours, some in the cave ages, or the ice ages, or even in the "future" with all sorts of awesome technology, and flying cars.
it's just weird to think about...how far the universe goes..
Technically, since they proved the universe is expanding, it can't be never-ending, right? .. I think.
Thinking about it really makes you feel insignificant, doesn't it... you're just taught the nine (eight, now) planets and our little galaxy, and it doesn't seem that big, until you get some numbers and facts. Then it seems huge.
Then you realize there's tons of other galaxies, and then you just feel lost..
Do you think this could be included in the Alien thread?
I don't think it could, Aliens are one thing and theories of the Outer Space are another.
Well, then the alien thread could be included in here then. They're theories about outerspace. That threads old though and has lots of posts. So I'll just leave them both. If another mod disagrees with me, they can do something with one of the threads.
Yeah, I think about alot. Especially nowadays. Really the universe is expanding and we cant even see that far out there so we probably really never know what lies ahead. Humans and all other creatures on Earth are so small and unimportant its almost unreal, really. Eventually, our Sun will engulf the Earth and we will all die,[if we're even alive 5 bil. from now] you know unless we planet hop or build space places to live in. Even then wont the Universe [ours] end anyway? Cant it expand so much it will just stop and collapse into nothing? I think I read about it somewhere.
There are all these theories about the universe expanding & contracting.
But I thin it's... really weird to think about what was actually before the universe.
Like, some people think it's always been there, some think it's just a cycle, expanding and contracting, with a whole new universe all the time. etc. etc.
Weird.
I once helped prove that the Red Shift Theory (a Theory that helps along the whole expansion/cpntraction theory) to be rubbish with this scientist dude.
We figured out that in order for the line spectrum to shift to the redder end of the specturm, the galexies would need to travel faster than light, like 7 times it.
