He was born in Omaha, Nebraska, raised primarily in Texas, he resided in Portland OR for a large amount of his life. He suffered from depression, alcoholism and drug addiction for years, and many of his lyrics are about that. At 34 he died from two stab wounds to the chest, most likley suicide.
