While reading back some pages on absolutepunk.net I found this (don't know if any of you have read up on it):

MTV did a short interview with Tom Delonge from Angels and Airwaves and attributed all the crazy hype he made for We Don't Need to Whisper to being on narcotics.
source

HIGHLIGHTS:

Tom DeLonge: The documentary is being finished right now, and it was submitted to Sundance. It’s an odyssey, and we’ve been working on it for two years. It started out as a making of the record and then the story got pretty insane. I broke my back years ago and got spun out on all these narcotics, so when we were making the first Angels & Airwaves record [We Don’t Need to Whisper] all that stuff kind of exploded and I went out into the press with all these crazy things and all this controversy erupted.
BW: Because of something you said?
TD: Yeah, ’cause I went out and said [the band] was the second coming of Christ. But that’s what’s funny in the documentary; I was like, “If God came down I really, truly believe it wouldn’t be bigger than this record.” [Laughs.]
BW: Is all that behind you now?
TD: Yeah, it’s all behind me. But the documentary will shed a lot of light onto the meaning of this band and what we’re trying to accomplish and how it all stemmed from the breakup of Blink-182.
BW: Speaking of Blink, have you talked to your former bandmates since the breakup?
TD: No, I haven’t talked to them. Isn’t that weird? It’s one of those things. You have to give it time. We had 10 years under our belt.

sry2say but you have to take responsibility of what you say. But I do think he was on shit if you watch the concert footage of AVA last year on youtube. The dudes bloated and looking pretty dodgy.

And this came up on AP.net:
I'm just gonna post a consensed version on here.

Ok, so I met him after their show in OKC here last year. Hung out for about 45 minutes after the show talking to David, Tom gets out of the shower and comes out of the bus to talk to only 6 of us. We talked for about an hour to an hour and a half, and by the end, after being a geeky fan boy, everyone else was gone but me and my girlfriend, so we got into the Blink breakup (apparently I'd proven myself worthy with all my knowledge. lol.

They're on a world tour over in Europe (I believe it was), and fighting started. Mark saw an email in Tom's inbox of Geffen offering Tom a solo album. Tom had written them an email back saying that Blink was his priority at this time and declined the offer. Mark didn't check the sent messages and started screaming at Tom about how he was about to ditch Blink (apparently he never QUITE got "over" Boxcar Racer, even though he had guest vocals on the album, and this has been stated, that Mark was hurt by the project, in many interviews by Tom). So, naturally, Mark thought that Tom was going to leave Blink and do his own thing. Fighting began in Europe (coincidently, this is the same tour that Mark and Travis made +44... the phone call code for where they were touring at). Tom was still in Blink, had no plans for AVA, but things were starting to break down a bit. The fighting and everything got more intense, and that sucked because they had a fall/winter tour lined up after this one. However, by the end of this tour Tom said he needed time to take off a bit with his family and very young daughter and just needed a short break from the road. Mark and Travis obliged and Blink was taking a little 6 month break from touring. Mark and Travis weren't happy because it meant that all the tour road crew weren't going to be getting the money they thought before Christmas, but still agreed to go on the break. During the break, Travis calls Tom and tells him that they need to go record the theme song for his new reality show. Tom was like "we're on a break I though, but ok we can do that". During the recording, Mark began questioning why Tom needed his time off and everything, and tensions rose again. They recordded the song, and were still on their break. Then Hurricane Katrina happened. Mark made some calls and booked 2 shows without talking to Tom. Tom gets the call from management that says they've got two days of rehearsal for these shows. Instantly, Tom is upset because he wanted his break and seemed to be busy with Blink during the time he was supposed to be getting a break from the rockstar life, but he agrees because it's got a good cause. He shows up to rehearsal the first day and Mark and Travis start ripping into him about the break and how it's bullshit and it's his job and how he doesn't need to take a break and he can bring his family on the road with him and everything. Tom didn't like it, and decided not to show up the next day. Instead, Rick (their manager) showed up to tell Mark and Travis that Tom had left Blink. Mark shot back with "ok good, we already made another band anyway". After a few weeks of feeling "lost and confused" and strung out on the back painkillers mentioned in this article, Tom decided it was time for something new. A breath of fresh air to take the negativity out of his life and "preach" a message of hope. And Angels and Airwaves was born.

He had nothing but great things to say about Mark and Travis. As we talked about clips from the Urethra Chronicles, and stories I'd read in their biography "Tales From Beneath Your Mom", he would laugh and talk about how funny those times were. He also said that he knows he'll talk to those guys again one day because they've been through too much and they're his best friends. Also, the show was Nov. 6... around when the +44 album came out, and to MY surprise, he said he had not heard the album "but was excited to hear it because Mark and Travis are both absolutely amazing musicians, so I'm sure it'll be fucking awesome. I hope it does well for them."

That story is still one against the other. No one knows the real story except them and It'll stay that way unless they somehow make up and talk about it together

What wrong with narcotics? haha. Come on, you can expect all the members of Blink to be clean... They're silly...
