I'm sure by now you've all heard that 15 year old Miley Cyrus posed in a way that made it seem as though she was topless. Now, sources claim that she was in fact clothed, but in the way the photo was snapped, it looks as though she simply has a sheet drapped around her.

There's a lot of controversy over who's to blame for this incident. Vanity Fair? Miley? Miley's parents? The photographer? Disney Channel? There are many different ideas floating around.

Here are the facts:

*Miley, at the time of the photoshoot and interview, was reportedly happy about the photos and found them to be "artsy".

*Miley's mother, father, grandmother, and teacher were all present at the photoshoot.

*Apparently, Miley had been wearing a nude colored tank top, but the photographer, Annie Leibovitz, asked her to remove it.

*The photos that were taken were digital, so Miley and her family could look at all the shoots taken right after they were snapped.

*Reportedly, at the time, everyone found the photos of Miley to be "simple" and beautiful".

*Now, she is saying she is "embarrassed" by the photos, and at the time didn't realize they would turn out to look so provocative.

*Disney is now claiming that Miley was "manipulated" by Vanity Fair and they "used a 15 year old in order to sell copies".

*Annie Leibovitz is now saying she's sorry her photos were "misinterpreted".

*Vanity Fair stands by their story and shoot.

So, who's at fault here? I know this will be a fun one to discuss.

I think everyone is to blame. I mean, come on, she's 15!!!! No 15 year old really should be posing for Vanity Fair like that. That's just gross, I mean, she's only 15, she's not 30!!
She needs to realize that she's still young and that she doesn't/ shouldn't show off her body like that, it's not necessary.
Obviously the photographer, despite her fame, should have taken things down a notch. It's a little disheartening knowing that she may have asked miley to do this. Especially that Miley Argeed.
Vanity Fair should have an age limit on there nudity pictures, I don't even think it's legal.
Her parents should have stepped in and said something to their daughter. I mean, come on, we haven't heard anything from them yet...

I think Miley, for the most part, is to blame. I realize she's still just a teenager, but I'm the same age as her, and I certainly know what it means if you have a sheet drapped around you. She's old enough to realize that, in most cases, if you're covering up with a sheet, you were just having sex. How exactly did she think that would come off as? Because it's not artistic, not for a 15 year old. It doesn't even seem legal.

And now she's saying she didn't realize the photos would look that way - give me a break. She'd seen the picture right after it was taken, as did her family. Someone should've stepped in. Her parents certainly should've seen something wrong with the way she was being shot.

I don't think Miley should've agreed to do a Vanity Fair in the first place. Wouldn't a magazine like Seventeen or Cosmogirl been slightly more appropriate? Vanity Fair isn't ordinarily aimed at young girls, anyway - it's more for women.

Just one thing I'd like to mention - wasn't their a Vanity Fair scandal a year or two ago regarding Ms. Lohan?

Exactly. Miley is signed by Disney Channel. She shouldn't go and do pics like that, especially not at 15. And the photographer is an idiot, you don't tell 15 year old kids to take off their clothes even if it is part of the photos you shoot. Go find a grown up. Her parents are morons, this is going to damage Miley's G-rated image, my mother won't let my younger sister watch it now. Hand

What does this have to do with her show? If parents don't show their kids the Vanity Fair spread, a lot of them won't even know it's happened and let's face it- she's not exactly going to start stripping on her show.

Also, Annie Leibovitz, she's been involved in some other scandal before hasn't she? The name's familiar.

Do you have a link so I can view the pictures? I haven't seen them yet, and I'd like to view them before I take any sort of stance on how provocative they are.

Although, at the moment, I'm thinking the blame falls equally on everyone present. They should have known better.

I dont even consider the picture to be that bad. Coolio

To be honest she can be ashamed all she wants now, but I think that she is the first one to be blamed, as well as her parents. Vanity Fair is a magazine with photoshoots and every artist has its vision. 15 or not, she did it with her own free will and with the obvious support of her parents. I dont think Vanity Fair and the photographer manipulated with her because they wouldnt have done it in the first place if she didnt say yes. We could discuss now if being 15 years old is old enough for you to make such decissions, but she did and her parents didnt stop her.

I think it's Miley's own fault for causing the contraversy, she is old enough to take responsibility for her actions even if she isn't yet fully emancipated. By the end of the year she is estimated to be a billionaire and she is one of the world's richest teenagers. With that much money, she has so much control and power and I think it goes without saying that she can choose whether or not a purportedly nude photoshoot is a good or bad choice.

Exactly
“I think it’s really artsy,” Cyrus says. “It wasn’t in a skanky way.… And you can’t say no to Annie. She’s so cute. She gets this puppy-dog look and you’re like, O.K.”

she wasn't manupulated as she said there ^ she said ok

Yeah, I still think that it's a little bit immature for her to being posing like that. I mean, I get the point that it maybe sexy to some people, but it's not sexy to me. It seems like Miley's just looking for attention by doing this.

Have you guys seen the ones with her father???

Manipulation is about getting someone to agree to something she doesn't want to do by increasing pressure. Her mother and father were both present but on a photo shoot you can have up to 30 people there backing up the photographer so they could have felt the pressure just as much at the young lady in question.

Fashion photgraphers are dangerous people, they treat there subjects like pieces of furnitures, I've done modelling shoots and even though it was advertisement for good friends of mine and i'm an adult i felt incrediably insecure standing under a spotlight, its easier to go along with what they ask you to do.

I don't see anything creepy about the father, daughter pictures. he's holding her hand and their in a half hug. My god the man probably changed a 1000 of her nappy's not that big of deal. I think if people find them disturbing its not the pictures but the onlooker whose disturbed.
