sorry i need to work on unmusic snobifying myself.
I like the idea of this thread though, you always hear about bands being overrated but never underrated.
I have to say Mudhoney is a discustingly underrated band. If it wasn't for Mudhoney Nirvana whouldn't sound the way they did.
For a solo musican though, Elliott Smith. His music is amazing, fucking heart breaking but amazing.
I will say i'd rather a band be underrated then overrated. If a band becomes to popular there will be nine year old girls everywhere pretending to love them. |

In your opinion, yes. But ~I prefer the Dark Knight soundtrack and Now We Are Free.
If you guys appreciate film composers, I highly reccomend James Newton Howard (The Sixth Sense, Peter Pan, and Batman Begins with Hans Zimmer) as well as Clint Mansell (Pi, The Fountain, Requiem for a Dream).
Jan A. P. Kaczmarek is a new composer, he did Finding Neverland, and I absolutely adored the soundtrack.
And of course John Williams (made several movies with Steven Spielberg, including Jaws, Star Wars, E.T., and even Harry Potter, though at the time it was directed by Chris Colombus. And Memoirs of a Geisha, though I never saw it. He's done so much. My favorite work of his is the A.I. soundtrack.)
