Hey.
I've been writing my own music for a while now,
And have decided it's really time for me to start recording.
Does anybody know/recommend any recording and editing programs for a PC?
I want to be able to record and add drums and other instruments and stuff.
Thankyou for any help.
Very Happy

Chloe.

Well you're going to need a good way of recording them - a computer microphone or even often a line-in just won't cut it. so if you're willing to pay money, I'd suggest getting yourself a 4-track recorder. they're a few hundred dollars and if you're lucky you can find one that will come with a free program.

But if you need something free, I use Audacity. It's open source, so not only is it free but (as most open source programs are) it's really great quality. It's easy to use and you can save in a multitude of file formats.

Unfortunately you cant add any premade backing tracks with Audacity; its only an editing program.

If you're downloading things via torrent then I'd suggest Acid Pro; it's similar to Garage Band in that it has many pre-recorded backing tracks you can use and it's a pretty easy program to use once you have the hang of it.

But before you go about editing, do you know what sort of set-up you'll need to record?

I don't want to sound egotistical or anything - just, I've done a cert II and cert III in this so I have a wealth of knowledge to share (:

Hmm not really.
I just want to be able to create songs and put them on a music Myspace, but not have them crappy quality, ya'no?
Like, I would sing and play guitar, but I need drums and bass etc in the background.
And I don't want all the recording to sound crackly?
I'm not sure if i'm making sense Smile
Thankyou for answering Very Happy
