differentperspective:
indeed a stupid question
having a free education doesn't make a country communist.
it's a fairytale that american government has put into your brain

Didn't say it did?

I was just wondering.

Do you live some where that is communist?
I don't want that to sound dumb, but as I understand communism, you get to school free....then again though, you don't get to pick what you do...so maybe not...erg.

Sorry if it's a dumb question.

Plenty of capitalist countries give free education. O_o
TBH if I could learn somewhere, one of those places would definitely be Cuba. The education and medical system there is crazy good from what I've heard.
And I hope no one here thinks Cuba is a communist country, it's socialist. :/

I think education should be free everywhere, regardless of whether you're fostered or not. But I can understand paying for university in some situations. But your fee should be judged by how much income your family makes/you make. I think that's fair. Student loans cripple people for life. It's horrible. omgno

Omg, I don't live in a communist country, squid, but what a great question. I live in Denmark, you should Wikipedia it Con We have a huge welfare sector, though, which gives everyone the opportunity to go to hospitals, schools and all of those needs Con

Anyway, Yeah as wild at heart and caoimhe said, I think everyone should have free education, but that may be because of the possibilities I know I get from having a free education. It might also be because my country doesn't have the amount of raw materials to sell (like oil for example) so We have to sell our ~know-how.

As for countries that do not offer free education, Yeah I think foster children should get free education because obv they don't have other means to pay for it, yknow?
On the other hand, I guess they could take out a loan and pay for it once they get a job, yknow, but the question is, if they would do that, because it may not be the best motivator.
In Denmark, We actually get paid to go to school, once We turn 18. it is, of course, estimated how much We get per month based on how much our parents earn per year and how far away from the school We live, and if We live at home or on our own. I think this is a huge motivator, I mean I know people who are getting an education, partly because of the money they get, but imagine how many people are getting an education where they could just get a job that wouldn't pay them as much as once they've gotten an education?
Anyway, I'm getting off trail.. sorry xD

Yeah I mean I think everyone should get free education, but it's not like that here. Your parents have up until your 18 though to put money in some kind of account for school and obviously foster kids don't have that so where I live I think that it should be free.

Because my mother is a single mother and she has four daughters,
I get this thing called fastfa or something and will have to pay little to none if I go to school in my state.
If I go out of state though, that doesn't work.

I do have schol. money already building up for me though, because I am Phi Delta. Very Happy
All's I have to do to keep building it up and is to do well in school and I can't have a GPA below like 3.5 or six...I don't know. You have to have a really good GPA in other words, lol.

Coming from a country that used to be in the Communist block, that is not the case. Education was free, yes. From grade 1 to the end of university. You did get to pick what you studied. Everyone got to pick. And you could study in universities outside of your homeland for free to, if they were in the communist block. My mother's husband's mother studied in Russia, and the education was really good. Also, when you became unemployed, you could get re-educated for free so you could become employed again. That bit of the communist regime I like and wish still was in use. I don't agree with the secrecy, violence and limited freedoms bit (also deficiency of products) but most other things were quite fine.
