this is a discussion on World War One
this isn't the place where I inform you that we reduced terrorist activity, found WMDs last summer, and got Saddam killed
this is where we discussion WWI, and I made the mistake of comparing it to other wars to show the spectrum of war in general
GSB just doesn't have the attention span it used to

no, I'm saying that abolishing war is too idealistic to work..why, because we're human
it's the same reason I believe communism or anarchy will never work
it's not okay to be this way, but we are and you have to understand it
there's an 80% failure rate in my Chemistry class
now, technically everyone could get an A+ in every class, even if it's taught five grade levels above where it should be
it's not an excuse, but maybe my teacher needs to quit being idealistic and take it one step at a time
you'll never abolish grades that aren't 100% or war because that's too idealistic
all we can do is take gradual steps

hey, Iraq, only 3,000 U.S. casualties
that's much better than the hundreds of thousands in almost every other major U.S. war
baby steps

“Atticus Finch won’t win, he can’t win, but he’s the only man in these parts who can keep a jury out so long in a case like that… We’re making a step “ it’s just a baby step but it’s a step” (I'm using every possible opportunity to quote from To Kill a Mockingbird, my exam is in three months)

But yeah, I was actually kind of shocked when I heard the british casualty count a few weeks ago. It was really low considering what I'd thought. But still, it was enough. Maybe (just maybe) if we aim for the unachieveable and try to stop war, or at least big-scale war, we might get close. Hey, if you aim for the stars.. you might only get the moon, but it was better than staying on earth.

People will always disagree. And that's probably part of being human, I concede. But to disagree on such a huge level where 3,000 people being killed is a small amount to us... well, that needs to stop. War probably never will stop, but we still need to try and cut back a little bit.

Pressure Drop:
Whats with the sarcasm?

Sorry. Bad day. XD I should quit coming in here when I'm in a mood.

if we aimed for the stars we would have never made it to the moon
but we aimed for the moon and we've been trying to get to Mars for the past 40 years
see how long it takes?
gradual process
until then, learn from history IE WWI and WWII

ending all war at once cold turkey is BAD

Not bad, but simply impossible.
It could be done, If we as a species could end all from of dissagreement, hatred and Selfishness. But that's an impossible goal because to do that we would have to form a utopian socity and since there has never been one, even when it's been tried........ as they say, the road to hell is pathed with good intent.
If there's anything that we should learn from the Two Great Wars, it's that we as a species are capable of extreamly horrible things: We can use new technologies to kills million's of people, create new technologies to kill millions in 30 seconds and practicly kill off whole races .
Despite that fact, 90 and 60 years after both of them have ended, we are still doing those things, and if we arn't doing those things ourselves, we are allowing them to happen. Wether we choose too or are inhibited from doing otherwise is not the point.

America was a coward, they didn't give a flying fuck about what happened, until it involved them. Do you know how the war started? What helped set the stage for WW1 was anti-semitism. By the late 19th century, Jews were pursecuted all over the world. People used the Jews to blame all their problems on. Then in France the Dryfuss Affair happened. The uppermost ranked officer in the French army was stripped of his uniform, after with no evidence, pinned him to be spying to Germany, just because he was Jewish. The French were very suspicious of Germany, and then, something happens. Alexander the First or Second( the czar of Russia) was out one day riding his carrige in the woods, then he was assasinated, an explosive was placed under his carriage, and it decapitated him. Russia blamed Ausrio-Hungry. They denied it of course. Russia, who was allied of France threatened to bring them in if they didn't cooperate. Austrio-Hungry in return, dragged in Germany. Russia brought in England, and all bloody hell broke loose. Even if Alexander hadn't been killed, the countries distrusted each other to the point where WW1 was bound to happen anyway. WW1 started WW2, which led to the deaths of over six million Jews, which is over half of the amount of people killed in the Holocaust. The US came in at the end of WW1, and decided that the quick-fix way to figure out what's going to happen at the Treaty of Versilles was to blame the entire war on Germany. Make them pay for the war, and took away their army. Germany's econmy plumeted, and since Germany was a big world trader, it effected Europe's economy, and started the stock market crash, aka the Great Deppression. Then a man who spoke like a saint, but with a heart of a snake came in Germany, and gave them someone to blame, the Jews of course. No one cared about the Jews dying, until it was too late. Jews were almost eliminated world wide, with no thanks to the Americans, who in turn, after the war, voted to give the Jews Israel, then they abandoned us, again. NATO was formed, and asylum was created. But nothing they do is going to bring back all the lives that were lost. America screwed the Jews, again and again. Just like all the rest of history. And just because the creators of communism were Jewish, doesn't mean we all are. And the idea of Communism, was a good one, but one that in an idilic world may work, but we're far from it. People's greed spoiled the idea. It was a nice thought, but an inlogical one.

no shit
our allies weren't attacked so we shouldn't have cared
besides, even when it concerns Americans now we're made out to look like assholes and "poking our noses in others' buisness."

frist of all

your wrong in a few different places:

anti-semitism has been around for 2,000 years. It's more like by the nineth century that jews where pursecuted all over the world. And you should see some of the things the crusaders did.........of corse that doesn't make what happened in WWII any less horrible.By far it was the most horific thing that could have ever happened. But but the stage was set 2,000 years ago with Hyprocrital Christians who thought that hateing the Jews was all right since they "killed" Christ, even though Jesus was born, lived and died a Jew and the Apostles and The first chrisians where all jewish.

the Treaty of Versilles was not only plotted out by the US. Britan, France and the other allies had a major say in it. Infact the U.S, more importanly Woodrow Wilson, didn't like the plan set up with the Treaty he thought it was too harsh. Wilson came up with the 14 points which he came up with to make sure that something simulare to WWI didn't happen again. The other allies wanted germany to pay serious war reparations.France, inperticular, wanted to suck german for everything it was worth.
