Kirsten___Ostrenga.:
I think these people are victims too; no one in their right state of mind would go around killing people.
I also think a lot of people who put the above in their profiles are just doing it to look cool. If they were to meet a real serial killer they'd probably run for their life.. literally.
I would like to meet a serial killer, however preferably in the confines of a secure perimetre. However I really don't pity them or fancy them as the victim.

i have so many therioes as to what makes someone a seriel killer but also as to what makes certain people victims - it would be great to carry out research so i guess im just going to have to join the FBI!

I think serial killers have minds that are meant for a purpose. I mean, if God makes everyone a plan for their lives, why did he make serial killers?

ANYWAY.

I think serial killers are so crazy to the point that it's fascinating; they have courage to kill many people, doesn't everyone want the courage to do things they want to do? 'Cause I do...
I don't want to kill people. Shifty

...Not to kill people no. I don't really want to know the feeling of killing a person infact.

Homo Chair:
I think I'd quite like to meet a serial killer.
Just to see what goes on in their mind.
But I think they're sick and wrong.
To kill people for fun? Who does that? A sick bastard.
To destroy somebody's life, be it who they killed or their family.
I think some books are published so you can learn about them, not to glorify them.
:/
But yeah, I think they should be locked up.

Obviously, it's not that simple.
Serial killers don't kill for fun. There's something else behind their act of killing. Something weightier.
Most of the time, it has something to do with their childhood. Hard past that leads the person to killing.
What's insteresting is the difference between the murderer, and the serial killer.
I read some books about a few serial killers and profilers. I also love watching any documentaries about that.
Stephane Bourgouin - a french profiler - said that sometimes they can detect a serial killer during their childhood. By seeing the person acting towards their family, people around, even animals, the emotionalism level, the family itself.. and many more..
I'm not saying it's that way for every serial killers. I just mean that it's interesting to know that you don't become a serial killer someday. But there's a situation in which the serial killer lives, for his whole lifetime, since their early days.
..If that makes sense.. Coolio

I think some serial killers kill for fun. I assume there are many reasons for which people are killed.

Take the 'Hitchhiker Murders' in Australia, the guy, I forget his name, used his victims as target practice for shooting at, and he beheaded several, and did loads of sick stuff. There was no remorse, he just needed a vent, I guess, but target practice? That's unecessary, especially when the victims were strangers to him and had almost nothing in common at all except for hitchhiking, really.

Did they make a movie about that guy, or a movie based on the events that happened in Australia with all the missing hitchikers?

...That could've happened, I'm sure. But then, aren't most serial killer thriller movies along the lines of that?

Serial Kiler movies aren't the most accurate things in the world, I've found.

When I actually started researching, I was shocked at the inaccuracy. Movies tend to portray serial killers as absolutely evil, and leave out their psycological issues, upbringing, etc. And if they do include the mental problems, they do it badly.

I know. It makes out that anyone with a slight mental illness could very well kill you all.

I think something should be done. It paints a completely ridiculous portrait of serial killers, which may be true in a select few cases, but definately cannot be said for the whole.

In Psycho, the killer was just someone who cared very much for his unknowingly deceased mother. No ugly evilness, just innocence.

Someday I will do a psychoanalysis of that movie, the characters and themes and the affect on audiences and the rest of the horror film genre for years to come.

Also, not to really state the obvious or anything but, 'ZZZOMG!! SCREEN WRITERS CHANGE MURDER STORIES MERELY TO MAKE THEM MORE DRAMATIC?!' Cheese
It's Hollywood, nothing's accurate, everything defies reality. Pssh, whatever. Hollywood thrives on stereotypes for almost all characters in movies. I haven't seen a purely, all-new original character in a very long time.
