I can kinda see what he means, to be honest. Shifty
I'm sure the majority here have heard Boulevard Of Broken Songs. That song just goes to show how similar they are, and how well they fit.
The songs have the same feel, too.

But that's not to say they ripped off Oasis. Could've been a coincidence.
I mean, everyone rips off Pachelbel, unintentionally. lmfao

It wasn't even green day that came up with bvd of broken songs, it was some dj or something like that. And Gallagher doesn't have a clue what he's on about, if you listened to every song in the world there would be some similarities everyone knows that, if something was written in the 60's that was similar to something now it wouldn't matter but I think the matter is that Gallagher is jealous because Green Day are a much more sucessful band than what Oasis is.

I don't think they're jealous you know..
They're beyond that "I'm jealous because they're more succesfull" thing.. way beyond..

noel gallagher is a total asswipe, and a complete hypacrite, a man who has spent his whole career mimicking the beatles has the ordacity to say something like that, millions of songs have the "same arrangement" but if this is so with BOBD and wonderwall greenday used the arrangment better and wrote the song about something meaningful rather than some wannabe drug inspired pile of shit from two complete moron brothers. if anyone had any less right to claim someone was ripping off other bands, its noel gallagher - see dont look back in anger (imagine) champange supernova (while my guitar gently weeps) shes electric (with a little help from my friends) in fact if you listen to every song theyve ever done theres something theyve ripped off from the beatles.

First of all, lets clear up the spelling. If you're going to rant at someone at least have the decency to spell things correctly. "Hypocrite", "audacity", "Green Day" (it's two words).

Second of all, please don't comment on what you don't know. Noel Gallagher openly admits the influence that The Beatles have on him and freely admits to the fact that his songs sound like older ones. The riff from Cigarettes and Alcohol sounds very similar to Get It On by T-Rex, something which Gallagher has owned up to "borrowing" since the start. Champagne Supernova sounds nothing like While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Don't Look Back In Anger doesn't sound like Imagine (which is a John Lennon song, not a Beatles song anyway). She's Electric is nothing whatsoever like With A Little Help From My Friends.

There are more than one influence on Oasis than The Beatles, similar to how there is more than one influence on Green Day, who can hardly be called the most original band in the world musi-wise. The Jam, Rolling Stones, T-Rex, Velvet Underground, The Who - all of these bands can be heard in Oasis, because these are their heroes and who have inspired them. They take what each of these bands offered in the past and turn it into a modern equivalent. Occasionally riffs and chord progressions sounds the same, but thats because yes, they have been done before. There are rough limits to how many chord progressions there are. No one owns these chords, though, so Green Day have taken a similar chord structure to Oasis' Wonderwall and used that.

Of course, Gallagher has probably been in a similar situation to Green Day in the past and been demanded to pay up royalties, so you can imagine his frustration when he realises that one of his best songs has been copied. This may not be the case, but anyone can jump to a conclusion when they first see or hear something. There definitely is a similarity between the two songs, as shown by the Mix-Up that someone did. If I were Noel Gallagher and I heard this, I'd probably do the same thing and call them out. I do it quite a lot with other peoples' songs already and blast bands for stealing things all the time (such as with The Hoosiers' Goodbye Mr. A which sounds criminally too much like Mr. Blue Sky by ELO). Whether its done intentionally or not, the two songs do sound immensely similar, you can't argue with that.

Anyway, back to your rant. As for calling Oasis drug-inspired wannabes, may I just remind you that Green Day have frequently written songs about being on drugs (in fact a whole album was supposedly written due to the effect of drugs) and been on drugs when they've written their best songs. We've all heard the story of Mike tripping on LSD when he first came up with the bassline to Longview. As for saying Boulevard of Broken Dreams has more of a meaning anyway, you're greatly misinformed. Wonderwall has just as much meaning as a love song as BOBD has of being a lonely ballad. Whatsmore, saying that the arrangement on BOBD is far more effective, well yes, it is if you're going for the more "walking alone" type of song. Wonderwall, however, is consistently voted one of the greatest songs of all time, and many people only like Oasis because of this one song. It inspired a generation to pick up an acoustic guitar and strum along. It's my betting that in 40 years time people are going to look back and remember Wonderwall as a classic song over Boulevard of Broken Dreams. Its up to the rest of us who's opinion we agree with, the world's music critics and fans who have been laying praise upon this song for more than a decade, or you: someone who can barely spell, barely string a sentence together, and makes up their mind when they obviously don't know half of the argument.

Yeah .. Noel Gallagher =)) maan .... why would green day inspire from ... oasis ? who are those ? oh wait ... their the guyz who are trying to play like beatles but they suck ... oh yeah, now i know. And green day is a punk rock band ... oasis britpop and some rock here and there .. that makes no sense ...
Honestly he can go to hell and listen to those songs, they are not alike at all ... He was probably drunk and needing for attention when he made that statement ... he's not a real rock star y'know ...
