The earth will fall apart because of global warming...I get that. We'll eventually destroy every species on the planet one by one and Jeff Corwin will keep telling us about it but no one will listen. And then there's gonna be nothing but people and livestock and pets because all of the habitats will be chopped down/destroyed/melted/burned/whatever to make way for the growing population, which is a result of growing economic prosperity in Asian countries because Asians like to breed.

I believe that we can still pull out of the global warming trend as long as worldwide actions will be taken in the next like couple years, yeah, that soon but I still think it possible.

I think too much damage has been done tbh. And the world is never going to get where it needs to be, in regards of carbon emissions for at least a few decades..or longer.

I'm not sure if I can believe that the world can end that soon but we can only really find out if it does on 12/21/12

I think permanant damage has been done, but I don't think the amount of damage will completely ruin life as we know it forever. I still think we can stabalise the situation, that's a better way of putting it.

Has anyone read Tanglewreck by Jeanette Winterson? It deals with this ancient prophecy of time and tempus fugit and all that.

K...so...according to the prophecy of The Timekeeper (which, as far as I know, only exists in the book), the universe will go on for 24 centuries. These centuries are represented as 24 hours on a double-face clock called The Timekeeper. So at the end of the 24th century, the world as we know it will end and a new God will emerge.

In the story, Maria Prophetessa, having given up magic for science and discovered several scientific ooh-la-la's about time, is sort-of-not-really reincarnated as a beautiful blonde businesswoman called Regalia Mason. She runs a compnay called Quanta. In Maria Prophetessa's ideal future, her company takes over by the 23rd century and becomes the new god, known as The Quantum.

dun dun duhhhhh....

I realllly doubt any such thing will happen though.

I'd just want to mention that it is also a belief in a Messiah-worshipping cult in new mexico that they believe the world will end in 2012
They're going to show something about it on National Geographic
I know not many people have it... but you could look it up as well

I used to think 2012 was the end of the world, but I thought the Maya/Aztec, depending on the part, (since southern Mexico was also Maya), referred to 2012 as "The Age Of Unveiling", or the "New Age". Or, perhaps, just another cycle in the Calander, to bring an end to the previous cycle.

well that's the general consenssus, that there's just going to be major changes with the planet rather than everyone/thing going up in flames.
