Age: 34 Gender: Male Posts: 46 | April 7th, 2007 at 04:11pm No idea, but Sid didn't know how to play bass to save his life. He did all his shows with the amps turned off because he couldn't play. He just swung the bass around. That's why I despise all the fame he got. No talent, he just rode the rest of the band to fame. Hate to break it to anyone who didn't know before, but there it is. |

As Johnny Rotten has said "All the music went out the window when Sid came along". I don't hate Sid, I mostly pity him. But I also respect him. |

I read some parts of it that were in the newspaper a couple of months ago. I wanted to buy it but couldn't find it anywhere.
"Pretty Vacant: The History Of Punk" is also a great book about Pistols and other early punk bands |

| December 8th, 2007 at 02:47pm I love reading John Lydon's interviews and accounts of what was going on at the time because he's such a cynic and he loves to screw around with the press so you never know if you're getting a straight answer out of him but whatever you've got, it's alway a laugh. |

None. He wasn't even there when the songs were written. They just put his name on them because he was a member of the band when they wrote the songs and they always listed all the members as writers.
Other random facts:
Real Name: John Simon Ritchie
Birthday: May 10, 1957 (to Ann Beverely and John Ritchie)
Deathday: February 2, 1979 (heroin overdose... provided by his mother)
- Dabbled with speed in college.
- Lived in Ibiza with his mother as a youngen.
- Met John Lydon at art school.
- Squatted with John Lydon and other friends multiple times in his youth (well, he never really got past youth, haha).
- Was often unplugged at shows.
- Bashed an audience member over the head with his bass at a show at the Longhorn in Dallas, TX in 1978. |

He could play alright when he wasn't high. 'Alright' meaning he could play the Sex Pistols songs, which really doesn't take too much talent. haha. |

| December 15th, 2007 at 02:06pm You guys will like this one:
He started the trend to jump up and down at the Sex Pistols gigs because when he was just a punter before he joined, he complained at one show that he couldn't see the band so he started pogo sticking, then the audience joined in and it stuck for pretty much every single Sex Pistols concert since. |

None... they just put his name on the copyright because he was in the band when they wrote it. They used to do that with every song so that everyone would get paid evenly. |

I hear he was on speed at the time, as well |
