Hey everyone. I'm thinking about starting bass. What kind of bass would be the best to start off with? I think I'll go to the local music store tomorrow to look at guitars. So, if I could get advice on which brand, model, ect. would be good, PM or something!

Alright, anyone have any experience with Epiphones?

I've been playing the guitar for a year and a half. I have a Yamaha Pacifica, which has been pissing me off lately. It was a good starter guitar, but it just.. doesn't.. sound or feel too good anymore. I'm considering moving on to something better. Maybe an Epiphone SG (g-400?).

I was wondering if anyone had any input, positive or negative, on the quality, sound, etc, or if anyone would recommend something better, that'd be great, too.

Feel free to PM if you prefer.

My friend had an old Epiphone acoustic for a while. I got to play it once or twice. It seemed like it was a pretty good guitar. It had nice tone and whatnot, and looked good too. I liked it. =D

Awesome, thanks. I've heard really positive and really negative things on them.

One more question.
I am completely clueless when it comes to pedals and such.. o.o
But I need something to switch me from clean to overdrive and stuff.
Would what I need be just a distortion pedal? If I put my amp on clean, could I switch between clean and distortion by turning the pedal on and off? Think

There's usually a footswitch that comes iwth the amp that turns the clean on and off. Unless you have one of those practice amps then once you get a bigger more viable amp, they should ocme iwth it.

There are probably effects you cuold get but first you should get a new amp. A great amp is worth more than a couple of effects. Effects just jazz things up and take you in a different direction but you can't get anywhere iwthout a good amp. Smile

True, but amps also cost more. A lot more. :/
Damn. Cause I'm getting pretty sick of kicking the little button on my amp to switch back and fourth. I keep screwing up my volume. Rolling Eyes

look at the danelectro fab overdrive/distortion pedals, there like £15 i think. But the tone you can get from them is actually really really nice, and itll make your crappy little practice amp sound better.

Does anyone have the sheet music for the violin part of Good Riddance? I need it as soon as possible, so if you could tell me where to get it or something that'd be great.

Thanks. =)

Post questions here like Whats the best bass to get or whats a good band name...

I strongly suggest Hofner also called Beatles Bass =) because it was and still being use by sir Paul McCartney. They looked like a violin and there is a good reason for that. Karl Hofner the founder was master violinist. He started his company 1887 and the company has been creating great musical instruments ever since. There are not many companies that have over 100 years of experience.
