Last Ride in song meaning

This is a calm surf rock inspired instrumental that is said to have been written during a sound check and was more of an accident than a worked out piece. However, its presence on the album is not accidental - with Nimrod the band wanted to go in different musical directions and do something new while still being themselves ("I think we went into the studio wanting to prove something to ourselves, that we could branch out musically, but still maintain that 'Green Day' character" - Armstrong).

Last Ride In is great proof of Nimrod's musical variety success.
