Tacoma, WA Tacoma Dome, September 25th, 2005

It was the greatest thing I have ever been a part of my whole entire life.

Let me start at the beginning... I got my gear: Converse Mono-black shoes, a digital camera, a watch, a wristband, a wallet, and my ticket. I was all set to go.

So I get there at around 6:30, an hour before Jimmy Eat World was going to open for GD. I quickly got in line, and was glad to note that the line moved semi fast, but since I went alone I was able to cut dozens of people. Anyway, when we got to security they asked if I had a digital camera.

Very quiet and quickly I say "No". I was nervous for a split second she'd go through my pockets and find out about what I had-but it was a simple "Pat-Pat move along." (Scary thing was-they were so lax that anyone could have brought a gun or a bomb).

Now, this was my very first time at a real "concert". I had been to a few at the Puyallup Fair...but it doesn't compare to the magnitude of THIS. I stood around, having no one to talk to for a while, then Jimmy Eat World came on. I then had my very first taste of "Mosh".

"ACK!" I screamed about a million times. I did NOT expect this! I remember earlier in the car ride there, I had asked my mom "Hey... What IS a moshpit anyway?" and she replied with "Oh, just a bunch of dancing and lifting people." (Don't judge me! It was my first concert!). So there I was... Having people push and tug and scream bloody hell and throw people up and carry them around. In five minutes I was right there with 'em.

I had NO IDEA beforehand how AWESOME moshpits are!! It was so exhilarating and exciting. I had become friends with the people around me-despite the fact that we never said a word to each other.

THEN... After about 20 minutes after Jimmy Eat World finished, the pink bunny came out to play. It was F'IN hilarious! He chugged two bottles of beer and got the crowd going. But... I didn't care TOO much for it... I was anticipating seeing the trio.

Suddenly... The room became pitch black... And the Green Day sign became alit! In no time at all they were all there!!! And I was so crazy to see BJ that I shoved my way to be about 3 people behind him! They played "American Idiot" to open up-it was a good idea.

Billie Joe told us "I want you to scream so fucking loud, that everyone in America can hear you!" and like hell we did. We were slaves to his command. He told one side to do something-they did it without the tiniest hint of hesitation. If he had asked us to start streaking-we would be a bunch of nudists in 10 seconds or less.

The songs that were played were (Not entirely in order... My memory isn't THAT good) this:

American Idiot
Holiday
Are we the Waiting
St. Jimmy
Hitchin' a Ride
All Alone
Brainstew
Jaded
Basket case
King for a Day
Shout!
Stand by Me
She
Minority
2,000 Light Years Away
Knowledge
Maria
Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Wake me up when September Ends
We are the Champions
(I'LL REMEMBER MORE)

Some highlights were:

~Billie Joe got this little kid to come up and soak the crowd with a hose. I desperately begged BJ for some because by that time me, along with everyone standing next to me, was already drenched...in our sweat.

~King for a Day was hilarious because he put on the awesome crown. I wanna crown like that!

~Several times throughout the concert there would be these awesome fire things in the background and it lit up everything! So awesome!!

~Also, I can't remember what song it was, but at one point the "Green Day" sign that was hanging on some wires above the band blew sparks everywhere!
~The confetti was a REAL nice touch. At the end the there was this huge machine that just shot trillions above trillions of this "Green Day" confetti stuff all over the place! Looking up-it was like New Years in New York.

~Billie Joe's inspirational message. <pulls head off because he can't remember how it went exactly> but he told us that this was OUR world and WE could make a change in it. And I sure as hell am gonna heed those words!

~My favorite.... MOSHING. It's SO awesome and fun once you know how it's done! At first I was feeble and scared (Ooh...moshing? I dunno...) but if you can't beat 'em, JOIN 'EM!

Here is some "moshing tips"

1: Don't be afraid to touch other people. They're touching other people too!

2: Insanity doesn't make you look like a dork, it makes you look like a fan!

3: If you don't know how to get carried by a crowd, all you have to do is jump high in the air, fall back, and the people behind you will catch you! And it doesn't even matter how much you weigh, because you're being supported by at least 10 people at a time!

4: YOU CAN NOT BE SHY. That takes ALL the fun out of it!

~OK... The #1 best thing was... When I was moshing, and got carried by the crowd. Now, people carry you to the front of the stage where the roadies will grab you and put you down. In the Tacoma Dome, once you're done stage diving, you're separated from the other fans and you have to walk all the way back to the end because they don't want you to get hurt and stuff. So they put me down, and I'm going "YEAH!!!! YEAH!!!" like a madman, I turn around. And Mike Dirnt is standing, one yard away from me. I only had about 3 seconds to stand in awe and gawk. Mike's one of my biggest heroes, because from reading interviews and stuff, he told me that there's a time for craziness and insanity (like shitting off a balcony) and there's time to be serious.

I was standing a yard away from my idol. Isn't that somethin'?

Well... When it was all over, I got sad because I had wished it would go on until sunrise. So I said "Good bye" to a few new friends I had made, and got in line for the 'goodies'. It took forever, but once I got to the front, I bought my beanie, and got out of there.

I would pay $100 to see Green Day again. This was the best day of my life, and I'd even go as far as to say that it was life altering. Please... PLEASE, if you EVER have the opportunity to see a Green Day concert, DO NOT hesitate and go "Uhh.. I don't know..." Because tickets sell REALLY fast, well, the GA tickets do, and those are the kind you MUST buy. I admit I made the mistake of waiting... And I had to buy mine off ebay for $80!
