Dayton, OH Ervin J. Nutter Center, October 16th, 2005

The Dayton show was AMAZING! We got there at around 4:00 PM and there was already TONS of people there and the doors opened at 6:00. We got GREAT seats on the floor and patiently waited...

The opening band played and they were alright (I'd rather not talk about them). Tre was on the side of the stage and set off this thing that sounded like a gun scaring the SHIT out of the band and the crowd.

Mike was there too, innocently watching Tre pull the trigger. Billie Joe was there too, only for a minute though. When the opening band finished at 7:30 we were all patiently awaiting and all us kids on the floor were singing the Beastie Boy's YOU GOTTA FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT TO PARTY that was playing in the backround.

We also sang the Ramones and all that shit. THEN! the curtains fell and there lie an empty stage. Tre came out following the rest of the band and they said they had a special surprise for us. "WE!" Billie Joe screamed into the microphone, "ARE GOING TO DO SOMETHING WE'VE ONLY DONE A FEW TIME'S BEFORE" and everyone grew curious. "WE ARE GOING TO PLAY AMERICAN IDIOT FRONT TO BACK!" and everyone screamed. He introduced "Are We the Waiting" as St. Jimmy and he didn't even notice.

I had the opportunity to be second row on the floor and touch Billie Joe's hand during St. Jimmy. Billie Joe then went up to Tre's drumset and took the drumstick away and began beating the cymbal furociously.

Tre took his microphone and came up to the end of his drum stage and began to sing random octaves and do a Celine Dion like pose. The whole band was cracking up, Billie Joe could barely play the drums cause he was laughing so hard. Then when Tre sat back down Billie continued to play and he started humping Tre and his drumset. After doing that and an 80's dance he put his finger on his ass and said "Now that's SASSY and SEXY!" and made a sizzle sound. He jumped away from the drums and said "You stay classy San Diego."

They left the stage after "Homecoming" and everything grew dark, no one knew what to do. Then there was bursts of flame's and there they were on the stage as they started "Whatsername" Aidee was there taking pictures (mostly of Billie Joe) and just watching them play. They were ready to bring the 3 lucky fans up to play the instruments and a kid all the way in the back of the floor wanted to play drums and Billie said "You can play Tre's drums if you crowd surf all the way up here" and he did it too.

A girl got up to play Billie Joe's guitar and she pointed at him and said "YOU ROCK!" and he said "NO YOU ROCK!" then she held out her shirt that had Snoopy on it and he said "SNOOPY ROCKS!" and afterwards he made the guy stage dive back into the crowd and told the other girls to "Get off his FUCKING stage :-)" When they played "Minority" they mixed it in with "SHOUT!" and it was hilarious!!

Billie Joe couldn't keep his pants on or up and he kept accidentaly and purposly mooning the crowd. Someone had a Michael Jackson like hat in the front row next to me and he took it and put it on and did his Michael Jackson dance that was all to much like the real thing and cracked up as the rest of the band was pissing their pants with laughter as Billie was doubled over laughing. He threw the hat up into the crowd and went in the back to get his crown for "King For a Day" and knelt down on the ground as Jason Freese put the cape on him. Tre had a womens 1920's hat with a huge feather coming out of it and Jason Freese had a golfers hat on with fake hair coming out of it, Jason White had a Joker hat on and the Wizard sat on Mikes head and humped him and danced. Billie bagan to introduce the band and brought Jason Freese up to the front.

"This man plays the saxohophone, the trumbone, the megaphone, the telephone, pretty much any thing that ends with one." and then tried to keep on beat with his words and said "I have the rythym of a fucking... Whatever..." and after they played a few more songs again the Nutter Center went black. Everyone was cheering GREEN DAY! and the green sign came down and we read the words GREEN DAY faster GREEN DAY even faster GREEN DAY GREEN DAY GREEN DAY the sign kept saying and then a giant screen came down and they began to play "We Are the Champions" which was INCREDIBLE! (I might add) and then Tre smashed his bass drum into his high hat, dove over the set, and ran off stage, Jason W. and Jason F. ran off after him and Mike threw his bass down and ran and it again went black.

The spotlight shown on a lone Billie Joe's ass (again showing) and he began to play "Good Riddance" it made me sad cause I knew it was gonna be the last song and it was AMAZING im at a loss for words. We all cheered him on and me and the guy next to me screamed out "LETS GO BILLIE JOE!" and he laughed at us. The billions and billions of bits of confetti lie on the ground from "We Are the Champions" and I was covered in it.

Then more poured out of the machines and I filled my pockets with the Green Day covered confetti. Before they went off stage Billie came up to the microphone with a grin that I will remember for the rest of my life. "This is a show..." he said pausing to catch his breath, still smiling. "That I will remember for the rest of my fucking life" he swore "I promise you I will remember this and Im not lying to you, we have the best fans in the world, and a great amount of them are here in Ohio" he said completely serious.

It was so touching and I'll never forget it. It even brought tears to my eye's the generosity he had in his heart to remember us for the rest of his life then he said something that got everyone cheering. "We PROMISE you we will be back! We will be BACK!!!!" and with that thanked us and went off the stage. It was so touching and the whole band came out and bowed and thanked everybody and then it was over. The flames the bursts the sparks the band, it was all gone and I really didn't want it to be. But I have to say if you haven't seen Green Day live you HAVE to.

By far the best concert I have ever been to and the best concert I will ever go to, except when I go to see them again. I couldnt believe that this was Green Day that I was in front of. The band I grew up with, the band I always have and always will love. The people I have posters of in my room and everyone of their cds in my fucking cd player and to actually touch Billie is unbelievable. I still can't believe I saw Green Day in person.

They are the BEST band and the best LIVE band and they hold a BIG space in my heart. So I encourage you go to a fucking Green Day show. And if you've already seen 'em go fucking see 'em again!
