Melbourne Telstra Dome, Melbourne, Australia, December 16th, 2005
On the 17th of December 2005 at 8:45pm Green Day were performing at the Telstra Dome along with another 37,000 die-hard fans!
The doors opened at 6:30pm. There was Idiot Zone tickets, general admission and allocated seating. I was seated, which I am now regretting because I belonged in the Idiot Zone! I was sitting in aisle 12, row R and seat 53. The tickets cost $85.55. Sponsors were Video Hits, Channel (v) and TripleM.
When we got in I was so pumped, the stadium was halph full (which sucked) but I didn't give a shit I was going to experience the best thing in the world! The stage was massive with two huge banners with the warning sign (man getting struck by lightning), and two huge screens.
The opening acts also known as the support bands were 'My Chemical Romance' and 'Jimmy Eat World'. My Chemical Romance were first, they sung Ghost Of You, Helena, Cemetery Drive and You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison. They finished with Helena. Jimmy Eat World were the second act who I didn't really enjoy because they suck, so instead of listening to their crap meaningless music I decided to watch some Green Day music videos on my mobile phone.
Before Green Day came out a pink bunny came out who was drunk off his face, as pissed as hell!! He was singing YMCA. This is a green day tradition, where someone comes out in a bunny suit before every concert and no one knows whom it is. It's a Green Day mystery!!
BANG! GREEN DAY arrived on stage looking sexy as hell (like always), the crowd went fucking nuts. I was screaming my head off and to see Billie Joe's face tears started to stream down my face! All of a sudden you hear the theme song for star wars when they first get on stage it was awesome!!!
Green Day opened with American Idiot with loud bangs and fire!
When they sung Jesus Of Suburbia Billie Joe said, 'This is not a song you can fucking dance to ok, it comes form my heart and my fucking soul'. It was one of the highlights of the night that I did not want to end. Billie Joe said, 'This next song is a big Fuck You to George W. Bush, its called HOLIDAY!' In the middle of many of the songs they played, they got the crowd to scream EH-OH, 1-2-1-2-3-4-1-2-1-2-3-4,HEY HEY HEY! (While punching their fists in the air) AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE OI OI OI!. In the middle of Hitchin' A Ride I witnessed the best thing I have ever witnessed before Billie Joe put his hand down his pants and started to make orgasm sounds, the crowd including me did the same! And watched while the screen fully zoomed in on his crutch! After taking his hand out he screamed 'Somebody fuck me' leaving the whole crowd to answer, YES!
Other songs they played were She, Basket Case, Brain Stew, Homecoming, Minority, St. Jimmy and many more! They did covers of We are the champions, Shout, an Operation Ivy song, Hey Ho Lets Go and I Fought The Law! Billie Joe pulled out a crown fit for a King and chucked it on his head and the crowd screamed KING FOR A DAY which they played! Billie brought out the Australian flag numerous times. He started soaking everyone with his water pistols along with a boy he pulled onstage. When they played Homecoming Billie said, 'I want every redneck in America to hear this shit!'
Tre Cool went nuts at the concert he started cutting his hair!! Billie Joe pulled up three kids from the Idiot Zone, he asked who could play bass and he picked up a girl who was doing it for the ladies in the arena, he then asked who can play drums and he pulled up a guy, he then said 'Who can play guitar' and a guy in the crowd said me, Billie asked 'Are you Sure you can play', and the guy replied with a yes, Armstrong said 'You better know how to play or I'll fucking kill you, how long have you been playing for?' The guy said four months, Billie Joe replied 'FOUR MONTHS! Have you ever even had sex with a women before, if not get up here because you're going to get laid!!' So he pulled the boy up. So Tre, Mike and Billie started teaching them a little piece of music to play and they were playing! (Lucky Fucks)!! Armstrong gave the guitar player his guitar with Australia on it! And he made the girl (bass player) do a stage dive!!! (Which she did)!!
My favorite part of the night was when Billie Joe lied on the floor wrapped in the Australian flag and did a cover of Stand By Me, I started balling my eyes out! The last song they played was my favorite Green Day song everyone pulled out a lighter/cell phone!! The stadium lit up. It was Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)! The crowd sung along it was the best feeling!! Billie Joe said this was their last concert for the American Idiot tour and shouted 'WE SAVED THE FUCKING BEST 'TILL LAST'!!!
Of course I did not want the night to end!! It was the best night and experience of my life!! It will always stay with me 'till the end. Every drumbeat matched the beat of a heart!! GREEN DAY IS MY RELIGION, AMERICAN IDIOT IS MY BIBLE AND BILLIE JOE IS MY GOD!!!
