My undying passion for Green Day began when I was 8 years old and Dookie came out. I asked Santa to bring me Dookie for Christmas. It was love at first sight. I listened to the album cover to cover all day every single day. In my middle school classes rather than pay attention to the lessons, I would write down the lyrics of the entire Dookie album, that I had memorized full heartedly, in my journal. I can’t say my mother was pleased when she found that journal with Dookie lyrics in it when I was 8 years old.
Ever since, I have never related to anyone more than I do with Billie Joe and his lyrics especially from Dookie and Insomniac. I am still head over heels for Billie Joe and Green Day in its entirety. I saw them at the Saviors tour this past summer. I have not listened to ONE other artist since. I am forever hooked on Green Day. I love Billie Joe. He symbolizes authenticity. We both have panic disorder. I relate to him more than anyone in the world. Thank you, Billie, for creating music that has gotten me through every single traumatic time in my life.
