What were the Nazi's thinking?
We're studying WW2 in school and I know Hitler convinced Germany that it was the Jews fault for the depression and the whole blonde hair blue eyes scenario but didn't some Nazi's think of what they were doing to poor, defensless children. How could children have caused the depression? How will kiling innocent children change the fact of what has already been done? You'd think the Germans of WW2 were smarter. I know there were people who didn't become Nazi's but the numbers of those who did, you would think the majority of those would have some common sense.

And of course, any formation of a Nazi party in Germany is illegal.
Still doesn't stop many German neo-nazis.

and as a result, Germans nowadays are ashamed of their history and do not dare to show any patriotism anymore.

Hitler preached that Germans were better then everyone.
Germans are quite the patrotic people, so they followed him.
He promised to get everything back they had lost in WWI.

Im part German.
I dont understand WHY hilter did all those things.
He should not let his own problems affect a million other people.
Those people did nothing to him.
[ps=dont be hating, i dont support hitler] O_O

there was a book called the wave about a classroom experiment that took place in palo alto, california. It was 1969, and mr. ben ross wanted a way to show his senior history class just what hitler did. so he came up wih the wave, in this wave they had to be completley obbedeant, and they followed along with it. They got so 'brain washed' and sucked in so easily it was almost like a cult. Mr.Ross decided it was time to end the wave after 2 boys were beaten up for no following the wave
in the end he shows them that there leader was really hitler, and they were sucked in just as the nazis did

It wasn't so much brain washing as just pure propaganda. I'm defending Germany's actions, not the Nazi's here. Because of course the Nazi's were the source of all power at that time, and when adressing the ret of Germany, Hilter hired his audience very carefully. He had a crowd of people who were sort of acting supporters.
Germans listening to his speeches on the radio and listening to the appluse and to the praise and support he got from his hired audience were made supporters too. They fed off the crowd they heard on the radio, since they just wanted to be like everyone else and do like everyone else and to them, 'everyone else' sounded like they were cheering on Hitler. It's like live audiences in sitcoms. Germans weren't the result of mass brainwashing, so much as the result of trend setting. From then on, whatever they heard, they mostly agreed with.
And, as stated before, fear helped too.

We talk about Nazis all the time in my US History class.
I'm actually doing my paper on the Hitler Youth.
It was a cult mentality, they were brainwashed into believing that the Nazis were their only family, and since many of them were street children, they would do anything to be allowed to stay in that family

There is this nice anecdote that goes with Kurtni`s comment. Nikita Khrushchev was on a meeting of some sort and he held a long essay about things that Stalin did wrong. And one guys asked why didn't anyone complain. And then Nikita asked who said that and everyone was silent. Then he said that that answers your question. Everyone knew that if they complained they would get killed. Fear is a powerful weapon.

Hitler had brown hair and brown eyes
His real surname isn't Hitler, his father [or grandfather, I don't remember], changed it.
It was much more than Jews.
Gypsies, homosexuals, the old, the disabled, so many people.
All because they were different.
And yes, Nazis are still around.
But the propaganda in those times led them to believe that everything would work out okay if they did what they were told.
I'm not saying what they did was right or am forgiving them.
It was awful. But I don't think they fully understood.
-shrug-
'Led like lambs to the slaughter'.

I know, learning about things like that are so sad. Innocent people loosing their lives and being tortured for so long.

I watch WW2 documentaries with my Dad. Like, the whole SS side of it.
They said they knew the children were only defenceless children, but they would grow up into the enemy. That's why they killed them.
It's horrible.

in histroy class we learned Hitlers whole "jew hating" mentallity came from a young age. his parents were sick with a deadly illness and a jewish doctor was treating them. they died and Hitler took revenge on the jews for killing his parents. Hitler was also 1/4 jewish.
He also didn't like gypsy, homosexuals, or anyone different then the Nazis.
