4 years after the success of American Idiot Tour, here's 21st Century Breakdown tour. 6 entire months through the whole world to present their new opus... and it looks like it's still a big hit for the 3 guys!
Taking a world-class WORLD tour was a huge success for Green Day. Although they took their stage antics down a notch, they still rocked millions of people in several different countries; from October 1, 2004 to December 17, 2005 and clubs to stadiums.
Before getting into their world tour, Green Day performed a few shows after years out of the spotlight.
Before "American Idiot" was released, Green Day performed a few shows from Japan to the Reading Fesival in Leeds and heading back towards home to Utah, USA.
Green Day set off from the Pop Disaster tour and sailed straight to the United Kingdom to play the Witness Festival in Dublin, Ireland and Scotland's T in the Park festival. They traveled to Wales and England to perform a few shows as well.
Green Day headed out across the United States headlining with Blink 182, Jimmy Eat World, Saves the Day and Kut U Up. Their tour experiences, from performances to a dangling chandelier and burning pool cues, can be seen in the DVD-movie "Riding in Vans with Boys".
Just before Green Day headed back into a widely-known tour across the United States, Green Day decided to get back "in the game of things" with their fans in Japan.
Green Day headed to Europe to perform at the Reading Festival and Bizzare Festival. At the Bizzare festival Billie Joe told the loud-speaker to "shut the fuck up" as the man asked the crowd to stop crowd surfing. Billie was also sporting his infamous "blue-striped" shirt.
After being unsatisfied at Warped Tour 2000, Green Day headed out across the United States, hitting some areas that they hadn't played at before. This was the last tour Billie Joe danced around in a woman's thong.
Green Day ended the year by traveling across Europe during, from Lisbon and Madrid to Dublin.
Heading to Australia for the 3rd time, Green Day performed festivals, including: Melbourne Festival, Perth and the Livid festival.. where they flipped over a car. They also headed out ot Goat Island, being the first band to perform there in a couple years.
Green Day headed to Japan to perform a few festivals in Fuji and Osaka.
Green Day set out on Warped Tour with several bands, playing for 30-minutes each night across the United States. Billie Joe rode Mike or Tre in like a horse to start each show, and he upgraded to waterguns rather then water bottles.
Green Day performed a few, well-spaced shows around the United States, setting off the year right with a drunken version of "Good Riddance" live on MTV's New Years Eve. They ended the year with an accoustic show at the Bridge School Benefit concert that is organized by Neil Young on October 30.
Green Day performed a few shows from Halloween, 1998 through November. Billie Joe enjoyed speaking to his fans in South America in their appropriate language of Spanish.
Green Day went out on a tour, after Australia, across the United States while Billie's wife, Adrienne, was pregnant with their 2nd son, Jakob. . At the KROQ show in CA, Mike was hospitalized after getting into an 'accidental' fight with Arion Salazar of Third Eyed Blind onstage.
Heading to Australia to kick-off their 'slight' world tour, Green Day also promoted themselves. Being their 2nd time in Australia, they met up with the up-coming band 'The Living End' and also wound-up getting kicked off a family TV show after allegedly performing "The Grouch" as a surprise (to all).
Green Day decided to perform a few shows in Japan and meet the fans they had yet to visit.
