VH1 Rock Honors
I was really excited about this years rock honors, because I love every single band they honored. Especially ZZ Top. AMAZING BAND!! Even if you don't like their music, you owe them a gigantic thank you for helping the rock genre to grow. Without bands like that who revolutionized blues into rock, you wouldn't have a single modern rock band at all. Bam Margera at first didn't really seem to me like he'd make that great of a host, but he was entertaining and did his job. Genesis was also amazing, I love them.
Now, after all the other bands had played is when the show started to go downhill. Queens of the Stone Age were Ozzy's tribute band, and they were fantastic. However, Criss Angle introduced Ozzy before he began to play. He walked out on stage with a mouse in a little cage and I knew that wouldn't end well. So, after blabbing on about Ozzy for a while, he then bit the mouse's head off. Now, I know some of you may be like "well it was just a mouse, don't have a cow" but really, that was totally not needed. The mouse was a feeder mouse, and it would have ended up as snake food anyways, but that isn't even the point.
It scares me how easily influenced some people are. "Oh, Ozzy bites the heads off bats and kills cats, we should all abuse animals!" Now, don't get me wrong, I love Ozzy's music, with Black Sabbath and on his own, but thats just ridiculous. I mean, how many dogs does this guy have now? Ten million? It isn't like he's out there mutilating animals or anything now. I'd say someone who has opened their home to that many dogs can't be too against animals.
He had a serious alcohol and drug problem before when he committed those other actions, yet people mimic that without even thinking. VH1 glorified it by broadcasting it in a program that Im sure was watched my millions of viewers. I feel that there are better ways to pay tribute to Ozzy, and no animals need to die for it to happen. How many bats you decapitate doesn't affect the quality of music you produce, and you would think that a rock honors show would want to pay tribute to music, not silly stage antics.

Woah, that's horrible. I'm glad I didn't see that because I would probably have been a bit upset about it. I'm not vegetarian or anything, but biting the head off a living animal for entertainment? That's just sick.

I don't think Ozzy is EVER going to live down biting the head off that bat. I love the guy, though. He influenced so many metal bands as a solo artist and as a member of Black Sabbath.

Well, when you're on as many drugs as he was, I can see how you could mistake a live bat for a fake one.

I agree that they should honor the music, but one thing:
-When Ozzy bit the bat's head off, it was because it had been switched from a rubber bat with jelly inside to a real bat, (how he didn't realize the difference is another story).
And if Chris Angel is as great of a magician as he claims, he prolly didn't actually bite the head off the poor thing, but still, him even acting like he did it is promoting animal cruelty. :(
