Beauty and Make Up Models
So I was lying in bed this morning, watching TV. It's my normal routine to wake up. Commercial break. Nothing special. Then I noticed a tv spot with Scarlett Johansson promoting a cosmetic product.
OK I have to say I'm used to crappy and stupid commercials. But this is really rediculous. A 22 year old young woman promoting anti-aging products. In the TV Spot she was promoting a product that kind of fills up your wrinkles with whatever and I wonder where she's got wrinkles. In her butt crack? Sorry for that bad joke but seriously it makes me wonder. I'm not saying the cremes etc won't work, I can't judge about that, but of course it will look like it worked on her since she doesn't even have any wrinkles.
And I also wonder what's the purpose of the spot. Well yeah, of course to make more people buy their product. But what kind of people? 50 year old women who now dream of having a young skin like Scarlett Johansson? Or is the cosmetic selling company trying to get younger costumers?
So does this mean that I, as a 20 year old young woman, have to start to get worried about anti-aging? Is it already necessary for me to use those kinds of products? I think not.
This leads me to think about beauty.
I think everyone should learn to love themselves the way they are. A big butt? A little chubby here or there? Unsatisfied with your nose? It doesn't matter. A pimple in your face? Wrinkles around your eyes? Don't worry. Be proud of what you are and what you've got. Wrinkles make you to who you are. And actually, I think it's very attracting if people stick to it. Hey this is me, I am who I am and I'm proud of it.
Beauty has nothing to do with a pretty nose. It's about charisma. If you show happiness and have a smile on your face everyone will love being around you. As long as you're pretty on the inside, you will be on the outside too.
[Just a rant.]
Edit: I decided to take out the brand of the cosmetic company.

They use young people because they don't have wrinkles.
It's some sort of gimmick.

Agreed

yeah I agree.
Dove (Y)
and like the Scarlet Johansson advertisment was just an example.
I don't blame it.

Hm, I see your point. But yeah.
...I don't like blaming the Scarlet Johanson [I love her] advertisement. It might be just a pre-caring creme or whatever idk kdjfgdfg.
But you're right. People should accept themselves more. I love all the Dove advertisements, they use ~real~ people.

I like to be pretty too. Who doesn't? I don't like some things about my body either. But I just think that with a nice charisma and positive energy (sorry I don't really know how to express it) your inner beauty can shine over your outer beauty.
Example: chubbyness: I know girls who are kinda chubby (which isn't anything bad) but who act so annoyed with the world, so negative, that it also refelcts on their outer appearance.
on the other hand i know people who weight a little more but they have such a positive personality, are happy, smile alot, are friendly and this shines on their outer appearance and make them more bautiful all in all.
It's something maybe only I believe in or that's only my opinion.
And yes those beauty products are good for your skin. But I don't like they way they sell it. it's like "oh you have wrinkles, use this and they are gone". in a way that makes it seem like a total wonder.

Sometimes people like to pretend like outer beauty doesn't exist; well it does. Inner beauty is loving yourself no matter what, regardless of your flaws. But that doesn't mean outer beauty is gone. I don't think thats so wrong, to want to be pretty, as long as you aren't hurting yourself.
Those creams/lotions/whatever keep wrinkles away by keeping your skin healthy and being healthy is important. They're full of all kinds of vitamins and minerals that are good for your skin. So it really wouldn't be a bad idea for a 22 year old to use it.
I understand the point you're making about being happy with yourself, and I think its a good one, I just don't have a problem with outer beauty.

Hey, wow great points. I agree with you and it's an idea brought up on here that I'm sure hasn't been mentioned before. Great job. =)
To be honest, I feel like I have a big butt AND a big nose. I'm not going to lie, I'm really self-conscious about my body. Although some people are guided by what they see on TV, I just hate how I look and now that I'm in high school, I feel really worried about it sometimes. So it's different for everyone, I guess.

I'm not blaming it for that.
It's not the point of my blog.
All I was saying is that the commercial is stupid to me. And I was making a general statement about my opinion on beauty.

I think it is extremely unfair to blame just commericals and television for girls, as well as guys, wanting to be beautiful.

I still think it depends on how you present youself :/
and yes people can be mean but you gotta stand on top of that.

It's true and advertisments like that are just there to make you feel bad about yourself so you will go out and buy their products.
" As long as you're pretty on the inside, you will be on the outside too."
That's true but for those of us who don't feel pretty on the inside, dressing up is the ultimate escape.

I agree with you for half of it..
but
Beauty isn't about charisma..
It's easy to say.. a little more chubby doesn't matter.
if you are skinny.
but me, being one of the "more chubby" people can say that I walk down the street, full of confedent... and still get called names..
People I don't know say things... that hurt...
and no matter what all you skinny and pretty people say..
confidence alone won't get you there...
