a "just war", and war in general.
yeah the "just" im talking about isnt in the same context as "just jeans".
A "just war" is a justified war.
meaning either party at war has god on their side, therefore it;s justified to kill people.
I;ve grown up with a strong christian backround, eg,
2 church services a day,
grace,
blessings at partings,
blessings before bedtime,
a step father as a minister,
church youth group,
church at hillsong,
etc.
From all those pointless years spent getting religon force-fed down my throat, i learnt this:
GOD DOES NOT CONDONE VIOLENCE.
then someone tell me,
how does a just war work out now?
how does it work if god doesnt condone violence?!
In the war in iraq aka WW3 (that's what ima refer to it as now) either side swears that they have god on their side.
the prime minister of australia, john howard, used to be the treasurer of a church, how do I know this?
he used to work along my grandad.
Now,
any self respecting christian wouldnt send their own country to war now would they?
tell john howard that.
God wouldnt condone wars in the first place, would he/she (if they do exist)?
Tell curious george that.
now about war in general.
What the fuck does it solve?
what the fuck does it do?
well it solves NOTHING.
and it KILLS a few thousand people over a tiny priority.
think of it like this:
you're on the front line, you have a machine gun in hand, and a complete stranger from another country is shaking horribly as he crosses into the line of fire.
you pull the trigger.
they immediately fall to the ground.
dead.
you killed a complete stranger.
they wont ever see their family again,
play with their kids,
have a birthday.
nothing.
they were killed in action.
my dad went to the war in iraq.
and curious george is coming to australia in september.
I dont care if i get detained,
bashed,
fucking killed,
im going into town and starting a riot with all the other protesters.
I'm not scared. Anti-flag says sings:
you can kill the protester
but you cant kill the protest
you can murder the rebel
but you cant murder the rebellion.
no matter how many people they kill
we're gonna keep fighting.
cos if it's a war he wants,
it's a war he'll get.

i didnt choose to study it,
it was shoved down my throat.

But both sides say God is on their side. So which side is God on? It's not like he appears from the clouds and defeats the enemy. I'm Atheist, though, but I do agree with most of this blog...

Just War has meaning outside of religious context as well. Obviously, you haven't paid attention to all of the actions committed by god in your years of study. The god of christanity is a vengeful god, and I can point out more place than one in the bible where he has used violence against people resulting in their death. So, rethink that.
And I beg to differ with you. War helped to free people from oppresive dictatorships. Wars helped to free countries from being destroyed by other countries. War helped end the holocaust that was killing millions of people. innocent people. You have to think about these things. See, the thing is Humans aren't perfect like the god you believe in, we're pretty far from it. If we were perfect, the problems leading to wars wouldn't exist. If we were perfect, we wouldn't have to resort to war. But we do. its been happening for years and as long as people aren't perfect it will keep happening.
And sweetheart, its so disrespectful to compare the war in Iraq to WW3. Becuase it doesn't involve the entire world, which you know, thats what a world war is. The people who had to live through WWII or WWI would be disgusted at such a crude remark.
