Many people forget that writing is actually an art form.
Language Arts
They believe it's something you can just sit down and well...Do. I supose, if you strip the phrase down to the bone, you can just sit down and do it.
That's called an essay :]
You need emotion to make a good story, you need passion; Just like you need those things to paint or sculpt or dance or make movies or draw, etc.
My point is...Writers aren't just bland, boring people who sit around all day at a desk and write. Good writers are passionate and they can make any piece come alive, just as a director or a sculpter can bring their work to life.

Art can be anything really, thats what makes it so interesting. Although, I don't see what's wrong with essays, I love writting, in any form.
