The Matches

The Matches are not just another group of Oakland boys.
These guys have ruled the underground airwaves for years now with their completely original sound. Never before have I heard a band quite like them.
They're signed to Epitaph Records, with two albums out. Their debut album is E. Von Dahl Killed the Locals, put out back in 2004. Their secod album is Decomposer, released in early September of 2006.
They don't try and wow you with amazing guitar solos in every song, like a lot of bands do. Rather, they allow each instrument to be played to the fullest. It's stunning to know that these four young men have so much talent so early in their lives.

Shawn Harris
Shawn is 25 years old and has lived in Oakland, CA, for all his life. He plays rhythm guitar and is the lead singer of the band. His original personality carries on through his voice, making for a great listen. He is, without a doubt, the epitome of insane, but that just makes him all the more interesting. He enjoys drawing and making clothing. His artwork grazes the cover of Decomposer, and he wears his home-made outfits on a regular basis.

Jon Devoto
Jon is the youngest member of the band, just 23 years of age. He, like the rest of his bandmates, was born and raised in Oakland. Fans may remember his afro, which, for awhile, was his most defining aspect next to his music. He plays lead guitar and does most of the back up vocals. The solos and riffs he lays down are enough to make anyone move. Some people call him an ass. They say he thinks a lot of himself.
Hell, if I was half as talented as Jon, I would too.

Justin San Souci
Justin is 25, older than Shawn by about two months. It's easy to tell that he is the most laid back member of the band. He has a great sense of humor and a smile that can kill. He just seems like the kind of guy anyone can be friends with. For the band, he plays bass and does some back up vocals. It looks effortless when he plays, and sounds complicated as hell.

Matthew Whalen
Matt is 24 years old. He's a soft-spoken drummer with a big heart. His glasses and his talent frequently engage in epic power battles, both attempting to shine through and define him. For such a quiet, seemingly little guy, Matt more than delivers moving, powerful drum beats.
