We Never Seemed To Care

Remember when you were little? You had all sorts of friends of many different personalities? What happened to that? What happened to not caring what people looked like and not trying to be something you're not? In the last 3 years I've been experiencing things that people experience everyday, but I've been thinking about them a lot lately.

When you were let's say 5, you never really took the time to examine what people looked like, you just wanted to have fun and did whatever you wanted that was fun. Well, when you got older, you got lazier and learned that there are more things to do and such things as 'fashion', 'styles', and 'labels'. Now that we actually have time to do things, you look at things a little differently. You take in appearances and judge people on them. Don't say you don't, you all do. If your judgment isn't what you like, you label the person into the group the style fits.

This is where it gets a little more confusing. Well you see, as I've been observing these things from distances and from my own experiences, I've noticed you begin to change as you meet new people. You do discover new things, but you also find that person or people so interesting, that you want to be just like those people. You start dressing differently, acting differently, doing things you never would've done before, just so those people will like you more. But, what happens when you start being so much like those people, that you start losing your other friends? Well as I've observed, that is the natural part of life. Things do come and go, but do they really need to in such a drastic way?

The friends you used to have, well they don't really like the fact that you've changed. Suddenly you and your friends start getting into fights more and more, and both of you don't like it. Sometimes your friends don't want you doing those things, because they're harmful to you or is against the law, but you decide to do them anyway. You get so caught up with trying to fit in, you don't see what you've become and how much you've changed, you're completely blind to it.

You don't know what you are anymore and are trying to find your place in life, but in life, your place was where you started. Where you were comfortable most, before you changed into something you can't describe. When you realize that, it's almost too late. You apologize to your old friends but they don't want anything to do with you anymore because of how much you've changed. You try to go back to your new friends, but you realize that it's not what you want to be anymore and you're antisocial. Suddenly, you have no friends anymore and you're alone in life. You hardly talk, you don't do anything social and all because of that one mistake of changing yourself completely because you wanted to be interesting.

My point is here, that you shouldn't change into things you either don't want to be, or change into them just because you want to be more interesting. It leads to drama and later on it just makes you realize, what you want to be, is right where you began. Change is a part of life, yes, I know that, but why do we have to change because of something we saw or heard? Being something your not is going over a line of where you want to be in life. We're still young, you can make new friends when your older, but knowing that you're probably going to lose those friends by changing again isn't something you would want to live with. Just be yourself and you'll be comfortable with your life.

Note- Yes I did actually do research on this. I have been studying this subject for about 3 years and I've experienced these things also. I've kept a journal of sorts listing things that I want to know, and describing them for later years. This is something that I've always wondered about and I'm not done with it. I have many more questions I want answered and I'm doing my best to get more facts on this sort of thing. It may sound silly and obscene, but it's something that actually interests me and something I actually want to find an answer to.
