Just some random thoughts on online friends and online dating

I understand that so many people are sceptical of online friend- or relationships. We hear in the news stories in which girls got raped or killed by someone they met on the internet. And yes, there are indeed alot of dangers in the internet.

Especially parents and other members of "the older generation" are sceptical of the internet. When they were young, this kind of medium did not exist yet, or wasn't used that much. But seeing as the internet gets more and more important in school, university and work, it also conquers our private life by being more entertaining than the television.

With the development of e-mails, chatrooms, message boards and blogs users worldwide get to touch with each other. They get to know each other, they learn to like each other, and even love each other. Of course you always have to be careful. Don't believe everything people say.

But you know what? If you have a great friend, a great partner, if you found your true love, your best friend, or anything else; if you truely love someone it doesn't matter how and where you met that person. What matters are your feelings for that person. What matters is the smile on your face, your heartbeat racing faster, the good time you share. Who cares if you met someone on the internet, in a club, in school or wherever? It's your feelings that matter, not the "medium".
