No Kiddies, It Isn't All Bush's Fault
You know, I am honestly and truly scared by the lack of knowledge possessed by (some) Americans about how the US government functions. How many times do you hear or see people absentmindedly hating Bush? I'm definitely no supporter of the Bush administration, but that doesn't mean we can blame every single problem in the entire world on him and him alone.
Believe it or not, the US has not one, not two, but three branches of government! And believe it or not, every single idiot and moron in any office was put their due to our votes. But you know, no one will ever say "Hey, I made a mistake in voting for him." Or "Hey, I didn't raise awareness of other candidates." Instead, we pick out a scapegoat and blame, blame, blame. Not every productive, sorry to say.
First off, if you blame Bush for declaring war, you're wrong. The Presidential position is part of the executive branch, and the executive branch cannot declare a war. They can propose legislation to congress, but congress has the authority to declare war. And do you know what? They did! But, how often do you hear that "congress" has mad a mistake? Hardly ever, it's always placed on the president because no one knows how the freaking government works. That agitates me so much, I mean if you're going to hate someone for declaring war it would be nice if people would hate the right person!
On top of the legislative-executive conflict, I don't even think half the population knows what the Judiciary branch is. They probably have heard of the Supreme Court, but I'd be surprised if they could list all of the duties and powers that the Supreme Court has. Did you know that the judiciary branch could have easily declared the war unconstitutional due to the fact that it wasn't a formal war declaration? But did they? No! And how many people do you see criticizing the Supreme Court? You don't, because they're too busy blaming Bush.
The point of this blog was to not say that Bush is innocent in all these matters, because he isn't (far from it..) He initially proposed the war, but my point was (almost) no one tried to stop him, and now those people are being viewed as if they've done nothing wrong. You can't accuse Bush of being a "dictator", honestly that's pretty disrespectful to the countries that were or are under forced rule. We're spoiled, and we're the ones messing that up for ourselves. He didn't do anything by force, he had support, lots of it. Look at polls after September 11th and you'll see that the majority of the country did want to go to war. Is that true now? No, and those people need to get out of their blissful state and realize they screwed up too, not just the president.
Now that elections are coming up, Senators and Representatives are lashing out at Bush and calling him reckless, but where were these strongly, opposed emotions 6 years ago?The balancing and separation of powers would have made it more than possible to speak out against the war before it happened. But, the media likes to throw all the focus on the president. Typically, he's viewed as the "US Spokesperson", and that doesn't have to be a bad thing. But just because he's viewed that way doesn't mean it's ok for everyone to forget that other people are at fault too.
All I can say is that if Americans keep up with this scapegoat and blame attitude, the 2008 election is going to be scary. People are going to make irrational choices for all the wrong reasons and they're going to neglect important facts. It's time to stop blaming and start thinking for once.
Alrighty, rant over.
Note: I know a lot of you, including me, are not old enough to vote. I say "we did" or "you" meaning Americans in general. I'm also not calling anyone stupid, I'm sure a lot of you did know this stuff, you're in the minority that do.

The problem of americans in general is that they think they own the world.
Alot of americans that are voted into the government
think they will come and save the world..
but they are wrong..
bush and all the others thought they were gonna win that war, smooth and easily.
but they were wrong.. they aren't the invinsable military power they thought they were..
they experienced people fighting back.
not only the army's in Iraq
but also the gorvernements in the world.
Like my country, belgium decided not to join in the war
and thank god for that.
THANK GOD that my little small country had the courage to fight back against the
"Big economical and military power" of the world.
Americans have to start to look outside the box that they call america.
they have to be less self centered.
For example -> Almost EVERYONE in the world uses the same worldmap.
The one with the 0 lin trhough greenwich in the middle....
which places england in the middle of the map..
a lot of schools in america use a map were america is in the middle of the world.
oh and america pretends to be this well evolved western country...
BUT a lot of americans are SOOOO far behind with their thinking...extremely concervative..
and they don't want to learn from other countries...
I'm so glad I live in belgium..
We have one ofthe best social security systems in the world.
We have the best educational system.
Oh, and schools keep the americans dumb too btw.
because, being here in belgium, having nothing to do with america, learned about how the american government works, and how the british one works..
cause in belgium... we tend to past the borders of our country

nevertheless, you're being kinda insulting at times.
I specifically said...
Note: I know a lot of you, including me, are not old enough to vote. I say "we did" or "you" meaning Americans in general. I'm also not calling anyone stupid, I'm sure a lot of you did know this stuff, you're in the minority that do.
The "Kiddies" wasn't directed at anyone in particular..

all in all i say good blog. you're totally right with what you say.
nevertheless, you're being kinda insulting at times.
No Kiddies,..
Being the president Bush is the main representative person in the government. in the end he is just a puppet of his administration. for the public, however, he is the one who is shown on tv, he is the one who tells them this will get better and that will get better. therefore the blame is mostly put on him.

our government sucks

So he was just giving false information, most of them regret it now.
but the thing was, they knew it we were going to war on suspision and nothing else, and they were ok with it. So in all honestly, they should regret it. People who are that easily manipulated have no business being in government.

wow, this is a great blog. I mean, i dont say that i am against Bush, this is because i dont nkow much about the man and it would be stupid to hate him for no reason, but you have broadened my mind on things, thnkyou.
Vegemite, September 6th, 2007 at 12:02:51pm
You just broadened my mind on how the government works.
Thank you.

Our Government refused to participate in the invasion because of the high level of concern over the authenticity of the evidence used to seek support for the war, principally the issues surrounding the WMD's. We were then, among other countries, placed within the "If you aren't with us, you're against us" corner. Not exactly something that warms the c*ckles of one's heart, to basically be called an enemy because we did not support the war for what our nation saw as justifiable reasons. Our troops are there though, attempting to reconstruct infrastructure. I can only hope the turmoil going on in Iraq does not last lifetimes. Alas, it is difficult to see resolution in the forseeable future.

I just dislike America in general.

I am so glad I don't live in America.
I'm Australian. So our almighty ruler is technically the Queen of England. So, we have a Prime Minister. His name is John Howard. He's a funny looking man with no hair and bushy eyebrows.
President Bush is actually in Australia right now. For APEC.
I actually don't understand the whole politics thing. I have no idea who to vote for, and yet, I have to vote in the big election coming up seeing as I've turned 18.
In Australia its compulsary to vote. You get fined if you don't. ..In America it's not compulsary, is it?
Anyhoo, I have no idea who to vote for. -_-

It was proven that Bush wasn't supposed to be in office during his first election, haven't you heard? His father was the govenor of Florida and I'm not going into the whole explantation from here, but you can just imagine what he could do. Anyways, point being, is that how do we know that the others weren't really "voted" in but just cheated in by the president and or his staff himself?
I understand that Bush doesn't make the final decision to go to war, nessacarialy, but he is the one who told everyone that there were weapons of mass desturction (which there weren't mind you) and he was the one to tell everyone to go after the wrong people, considering the fact that they didn't go after the guys that supposedly were the culprits for 9/11. But I understand that its not only him. Really I do. I'm angry at the goverment as a whole, not just the president. Though some of the candiates running for this years election did state that they had voted for the war because George W. Bush didn't flat say that he was going to put American's in debt for years and years to come and potentcially destory any power that the US had held. So he was just giving false information, most of them regret it now.
In conclusion ALL POLITCIANS ARE SCUM. Period. You really just have to pick the lesser of the evil. I guarntee that 99.9% of any candiates even really considering about running are just in it for the money, because if you haven't noticed, thats all the US has come to anymore. Money. Greed. And of course...lies.

The No Child Left Behind act had great potential, but congress has no sense and they didn't make the necessary changes so that it could be effective. It's sad really, because that program could have been helpful. The way they have it now, it basically sets schools up to fail. Such a waste..
Kurtni, September 6th, 2007 at 04:56:33am
i studied the branches of gov't last year. I blame it on Bush and congress. they were both wrong. Bush took it to congress and they declared war. It was wrong to vote for Bush with his "administration" for other reasons like the No Child Left Behind Act, and No healthcare for Veterans. it isn't just bush though.
