Our most closely guarded secret is that we are human
I have always thought that people unnecessarily isolate themselves from those around them, as if they presume that they are alone in their thoughts and actions. Wasting away inside their own heads with only their mind as company, they never think to look outside of themselves to find a solution.
Perhaps people are afraid to discover that they truly are alone and restrict their feelings to an inner circle of a few people. Perhaps they assume they are weak and it would be foolish to divulge their vulnerability to a hungry and waiting world of scavengers. Or perhaps they do not understand that happiness results from a connection; a connection to our natural world, to possible worlds, or to the living, breathing world of fellow beings.
Instead of spreading our experiences or knowledge, we bottle them up and keep them safe away from prying eyes. After all, should emotions be plain to see, anyone could know our deepest, darkest, most uncharacteristically human secrets.
Essentially, people are scared to be human- to make mistakes, to feel anger, to feel love. Every natural feeling is guarded closely in the farthest crevices of our mind. However, we should learn to share our burdens and yes, even our happiness.
“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.” “ Albert Einstein

First of all, thanks for taking the time to comment ^_^
And to Dria and lyrical_mess, it's true that not every time you open yourself up everyone is gonna love it. But it's the only way to find a connection with people and I think the end result is worth it.

You know, I think you are very right. And hose other comments posted by people...everything that you just said was true. Maybe its the fear of making certain mistakes that compells certain human beings into doing something irrational or crazy. Maybe its like something in the brain that says "this is what you should do" without using common sense.
I think everyone just wants happiness and just wants to be liked and therefore they can do some crazy and pretty irrational things to get there.

I got mixed feelings on this. Which is my way of saying you're right, but I still hate most of my classmates.
There's something wonderful about needing people and being needed. It just gets hard to find people, the kind of people one can share oneself with.

Once I thought it was okay to trust other people. Now I feel like I wasted away my secrets to worthless people who plainly don't give a sh*t. I feel extremely used up by these people, but I dunno.
I used to think the way you thought. But my closest friends don't give a sh*t about what I've been through, and telling them anyway was let me tell you - the WORST mistake I'd ever made.
Now try explaining that to a 'friend'.
The lack of trust in people is due to the influx of selfishness. Well with the people I know, anyway.
