This really "Grinds my Gears."
You know the flag that so many hate because of it representing "slavery?"
This one:

And you know what? I say screw you to those who find it offensive, I wave it proudly, and am proud to be from the South.
Those of you who find it offensive cause it "represents slavery" go get a damned history lesson. This flag does not represent slavery. It represents the former country of the Confederate States of America, which was started by the succession of South Carolina, and I'm damned proud to be from here. I don't care what you say, the flag does not represent slavery. I'm sick of hearing that, cause it's not true. This flag has even been used in a very popular television show. Anyone remember the Dukes of Hazzard?
Yup, the General Lee, named after General Robert E. Lee himself who commanded the Confederate Army, take a look at the roof.

See? It has the Confederate flag displayed proudly on the roof for all to see. The show was never bashed for displaying what those call "that obscene flag." Hell, one BBQ resturant closer to town has a Confederate flag waving proudly, the South Carolina state house does as well. So you think this flag is offensive? Go back to history class and get it right. I wave this flag proudly, I don't give a damn what you say about it.

P.S. I realize this is more so a rant, but I've been wanting to write this for a while.

But pride is good anywho. ^__^

Well, South Carolina seceeded because of slavery.
The Confederate States of America were ALL slave states... only 4 didn't join. The CSA had exactly the same constitution as ours, except saying slavery could not be abolished.
So it represents a country unified over their support of slavery. Still offensive to me.
And by the by, I have nothing against the current south at all.

Do you belive that slavery is wrong? If so, you shoulnt wish to represent sh*tstains on Ameirca's history like Jefferson Davis. The southern states during the 1860's decided that they were too good to follow America's laws before they were even made. Don't get me wrong, many southrens back then didn't approve of slavery but waned to keep it anyways because without it they thought econonmy would colapse. But what does that mean? It means they didn't give two sh*ts about the slaves, and would rather go on with having slaves then damage the economy. If you ask me, the Confedrate flag represents a time when people really need to sort out their priorities.

The South didn't have as many factories or railoads and such as the North did, Slavery was not needed in the North, but it was in the South, and I too believe its wrong, but I'm just saying, that's what Southern Economy was back in the 1800's.
Slash, February 28th, 2008 at 07:07:13pm
Yes, that's true.
But I can't really blame Lincoln. He believed Slavery was morally wrong. As do I.
But I also don't think the South should have relied so much on slave labor. It caused the whole problem, the original people who kidnaped and enslaved the first African Americans
And the Union went into the war just to get the Confederacy back.
I personally think things could have been resolved without sessesion

I respect your opinion but Mindy, the South wanted to seccede because the Union was going to abolish slavery, and that was Lincoln's plan. That would've devastated Souther economy greatly. Besides they would get clothes and such from trading with Great Britain.
Slash, February 28th, 2008 at 07:02:03pm
Well, I don't think it represents slavery. I think it represents the ignorance of political figures.
Go ahead and wave it if you're supporting your region, but it's a reflection of the stupid political figures of the nineteenth century, who thought they could get along just fine without the North's help. Without manufactured goods. Who thought they could get along on just cotton and tobacco.
And I can say that as I live in a Southern State.
It doesn't represent Slavery. It represents ignorance
My opinion
