Hate the sin...love the sinner.

"Hate the sin and love the sinner."

I saw that quote the other day and couldn't help but study it for a moment. Such a simple, quiet, plain quote, only made up of seven little words, and yet, I thought, if everyone kept this idea in their heads all the time, we would never fight. We would never grow angry. You know why? Whenever we get angry with someone, it's because of what someone did, not who someone is. We hate what mean thing they said, or what reckless thing they did - but we aren't actually upset with the person. We're upset with the actions of the person.

Maybe if we took time to realize what we're actually angry about, we'd be happier in our relationships. Maybe we'd get along with our siblings, have fun with our parents, and have good, strong bonds with our friends. Because really, when you think about it - when have you actually ever been angry with a person for just being themselves? Never, right? You were angry with an idea they had, or something they did or said. But the actual person was someone you loved very much.

Just something I was thinking about... I thought it was interesting. Maybe we should all just let things go sometimes instead of arguing about them, because really, in most cases, you "hate the sin and love the sinner".
