Free Hugs Campaign
A hug - its something we could all desperately use now and then. When we're feeling down, alone, left out, afraid - a hug would make all the difference in the world to brighten our day. That was the mission of Austrailian Juan Mann, a man who decided to stand out in the streets, holding a sign that simply read "FREE HUGS". Why was he doing this? To simply make someones day a little happier, just because he wanted to.
This sounds like a nice gesture, doesn't it? It's kind, innocent, and selfless. In the age where no one can be trusted, people were, sadly, hesitant to take up Juan's offer of a free hug. It's ashame that we can't feel like we can trust a person who has such a sweet idea, but that's the world we live in. Surely and slowly, though, the love broke loose, and the Free Hugs Campaign began.
You'd be suprised at how controversial the "Free Hugs Campaign" became. Policemen banned Juan from giving out free hugs, even though the only thing it did was make people feel good. So, in an inspiring enbarkment, Juan Mann and supporters started a petition to let the campaign continue on. After reaching their goal of TEN-THOUSAND signatures, the Free Hugs Campaign was up and running again. This idea has now been taken all over the globe, inspiring all to let a little more love into your life, and give love to others, even if you don't know their name.
Juan Mann has been featured on Oprah, and is actually the one who was the inspiration for the television show Oprah's Big Give.

I've known about this campaign for quite a while now and it is really quite popular
I really like it myself :] it's sweet.
when I when to see Tenacious D with my best friend, there were around 2 or 3 people down the front who held up 'Free Hugs' signs :D
I can't believe he was banned from the police though; what a nanny-world we live in.
