The Veronicas: Hook Me Up
Hook Me Up - The Veronicas
Parental Advisory - Explicit Content
Aussie twins Jess and Lisa Origliasso, also known as The Veronicas, are back with the follow-up to their hit debut album, "The Secret Life of the Veronicas" with their sophmore album, entitled "Hook Me Up". The girls have taken on an electro-pop-rock blend that is rarely seen in mainstream music. Take a little Avril Lavigne, a little Britney Spears, a little Rihanna, a whole lot of attitude and throw it all in a blender, out pops "Hook Me Up." With catchy dance tunes like "Popular", and "Take Me on the Floor", to power ballads such as "In Another Life", the Veronicas keep the listener pleased with something thats finally slightly different from what we've been hearing in most tired, overrated pop songs these days. Though it isn't as rock-oriented as their last album, it still keeps on fans interested with fantastic song-writing and strong vocals, even if most of the songs are the average pop break-up song.
If you were a fan of "The Secret Life of the Veronicas", you may be a little suprised at the first listen by the content of "Hook Me Up". But give it another listen - and you'll find it's the same girls from a few years ago, just a few years older, and musically, a bit bolder.
