WARNING: BAD SPELLER, PLEASE DO NOT COMMENT ON POOR SPELLING
Iron Maiden is a brittish heavy metal band, and is often credited for being the first successfull (or even the very first) heavy metal band ever. Basist Steve Harris formed Iron Maiden on Christmas of 1975. Since then, they have released 14 studio albums (Iron Maiden(self titled), Killers, The Number Of The Beast, Peace Of Mind, Powerslave, Somewhere In Time, Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son, No Prayer For The Dying, Fear Of The Dark, The X Factor, Virtual XI, Brave New World, Dance Of Death and A Matter Of Life And Death) and 9 live albums (including Live After Death, A Real Live One, A Real Dead One, Rock In Rio, Death On The Road and many more)
After 4 years of frustration and lineup changes, Iron Maiden finally began recording their very first album in 1979 with vocalist Paul Di'Anno, guitarists Dennis Stratton and Dave Murry, bassist Steve Harris and drummer Clive Burr. This line up stayed for their first album. After their first tour, Stratton was fired due to unwanted musical differences and was replaced by Murry's childhood friend Adrian Smith. After then release of "Killers", Di'Anno was also fired due to his self-destructive behavior and use of cocaine. He was replaced by Bruce Dickinson. That same year Clive Burrleft the band due to family problems and was replaced by Nicko McBrain. Later on in 1993, Adrian Smith left the band to persue a solo carrear. He was replaced by Janick Gers. Bruce Dickinson also left in '93 becuase he wanted to change his writing style and Maiden woulnt allow it. He was replaced by Blaze Bayley. When Smith and Dickinson rejoined the band in 1999, Bayley was kicked out, but Gers was kept as a six-piece. Since then, there have been no lineup changes.

As for their musical style. Its heavy metal. Some may be rather disturbed by some of their song lyrics. Sorry? Many songs are written about historical things, war, society's injustices, and many other strange ideas. These are a few songs which are my favorites
Run To The Hills
The Trooper
Aces High
Wasted Years
Paschendale
