Teenage Obsession
It seems that in todays society, teenagers are obsessed about the way they look. They can't weigh to much. Oh heavens no, after all, they might not get the high school hunk if they have look like they might actually be able to pick something up without breaking a bone.
I've talked to so many people about looks.... Mind you some of them could care less if people think they look like a dog, or if people think they are totally gorgeous. Then some of them think that if they weigh just a few pound more than every other one of those stick figures, the sky will fall apart and everyone will die. So they deny themselves food for days, or when they do eat, they make themselves throw it up so they can't gain any weight.
Frankly, I couldn't ever purposefully deny myself food.
And to be quite honest, I could care less what people think of me. I don't care if they think I am fat, or weird, or whatever. I'm just proud of who I am. and honestly, all of you should be too. And you know, its not always girls. there are guys I've known that are the same way. That think that they don't look hot enough to get the girl they want. or any girl for that matter.
but it's not about looks generally, I mean sure there are shallow people everywhere that think that if you are a guy, and you aren't totally ripped you aren't worth a dime, and if you are a girl, and you don't have a big chest, you just aren't good enough.
I think more people should learn to over look what is on the outside and actually take the time to get to know the person. Get to know the personality. Because most of the time, if you see someone that isn't the biggest hottie in the world, if you take the time to know them better, you can understand that inside, there is always a wonderful personality that is just waiting to be uncovered.
Like, with me for example. Sure I've heard from people that I'm pretty, but honestly, I could care less. And I am a weird girl, but I'm proud of who I am. and I could care less what people think.
I am a firm believer that if you think well of yourself, then others will too. So if you think you are pretty, others will see that and admire you for it. Mind you, just so long as you aren't egotistical about it. lol

That think that they don't look hot enough to get the girl they want. or any girl for that matter.
I don't think all the people keen on their looks think of getting a boy/girlfriend or what others think of them. It has to do with your self-confidence. Some even find it interesting and fun to change their looks. I know a girl who was called teenie, superficial etc, because she wore a lot of make up. Once, we talked about it and she gave me a completely different view on it, as she said that "if I'm at home and have nothing to do, I try new make up styles!" This girl dyes her hair a lot as well, but it's because her look is an interest of hers.
I'm keen on how I look as well. But I dress up for myself, nobody else. I straighten my hair every day because I think it suits me better, but it is not for some guy. I put my foundation on because I like looking more alert. So, am I not beautiful just as I am? Well, sure I am. But I think it's fun to look even better :] there are days when i just don't care as well.
About the weight part. Just like most others teenagers, there are times when I worry about my thighs, hips and butt. I've tried losing weight, even though my weight is just normal, I always thought "just some extra shaping." But I was not happy excersising so much, I wasn't happy counting calories. I'd rather be happy and unlimited when eating and taking life easy, than unhappy with a perfect body.
good blog though :]

So very, very true Nina.
I try not to care, honestly, I don't really care. But I still want to lose a stone for the sole purpose of returning to my sport in full health.
Really awesome Blog, darling.

very good blog.
but unfortunately, it's not that easy to start loving yourself.
most of the time, people with warped body images have a chemical imbalance in the brain. it;s a disease. but yes, good blog.

Personally, I could care less. My friends get on my ass about the fact that I always wear a hoodie and a t shirt. I'm of the opinion that I'm not trying to impress anyone, so it doesn't matter and it's not like I look like I just rolled out of bed. But it's also not like I'm wearing something skintight either.
And ohay, I have more of an attention span than I thought. GREAT blog.

I try not to care. But I do.
Mindy, Everyone cares. everyone is worried about the way they look at some point in life. you just have to forget about it and push it aside.
I'm not the prettiest person in the world, and I know that. I'm not a model, and I know that. But I am Mindy, and if that's not good enough for some people, then they're not good enough for me.
WONDERFUL WAY OF THINKING DEARY! i wish more people would think like you.

this is another great blog, well written. "I think more people should learn to over look what is on the outside and actually take the time to get to know the person. " - I think that is so true a lot of people forget the inside of a person and think "Oh no I can't date her shes too fat, ugly ect." but if they got to know the person they would be able to see through it. I must admit I love eating too, I don't think I could ever give it up even when I get down about the way I look.

i agree with you, there is a problem with self image Everywhere we look, and tbh, i was just writting this about teenagers because i know first hand how that is.
so i guess i could take what i have learned and put it with things that i have heard about, to make it better i guess xD
thank you for reading.

I try not to care. But I do.
I can't stand it when my friends are complaining on how much weight they lost and I can't ever seem to lose any.
But I tried something one day. Two days in a row, I acted totally differently. One day I was calm, cool and collected. I carried myself with dignity and more people respected me. The other one, I was moody and angry. I slouched and didn't care about my appearance at all. I got a lot of weird looks and such.
I think if you make your outside what your inside is, people will see that too. I'm not the prettiest person in the world, and I know that. I'm not a model, and I know that. But I am Mindy, and if that's not good enough for some people, then they're not good enough for me.
Teenagers are confusing.

I think self-image is a problem with, not only teenagers, but many young adults as well, and to be completely honest, I think we all care about what we look like deep down inside. Personally for me, I care alot about what I look like because I believe that what a person looks like on the outside reflects how they are on the inside, like if someone dressed sloppily 24/7, people are gonna start to think that said person doesn't care about themselves.
