Obama's So-called 'War on Success'
This pissed me off, it really did.
I was watching The Colbert Report and it talked abbout how Obama's going to tax the wealthy. What I don't get is why people are so mad about it! I mean, why should people who have less money be taxed more heavily? That's how it's been for a long time. The less money you have, the more heavily you're taxed. Now, I'm not really all that up on politics, but I know enough. and what I know is that if you're poor you're gonna have the shit taxed out of you.
There's a bunch of idiots ranting on TV about how Obama's started a "War on Success" and that's just crap. I mean, if you have money you should be taxed. And it seems that the less money you have the more you're taxed. I think there should be a system in place where you pay taxes for a certain percent of your income. Not that rich stay richer crap we have in place now.
I mean, why should I live in poverty just because Bush screwed us over and let the freakin' rock stars and politicians and TV whores be brats who don't pay a dime?
I can find a good analogy for this.
Imagine that I signify the lower/middle class, my parents are the government, and my brother signifies the upper class. Now, my parents call me a bitch all the time and tell me I'm worthless and all that good stuff that every kid with chronic depression should hear and my brother's a saint. My parents take my stuff all the time just because they had a bad day and need someone to take it out on. My brother gets to do whatever the hell he wants. He's pretty much just a brat and gets to do whatever just because he's younger.
That's the gist of it, if you understand my random train of thought.
I got so pissed off that the people on TV were saying that they shouldn't have to pay taxes because they have enough money to, whereas at this point many many people barely have anything to eat.
I blame Bush, mostly. If he hadn't been so freakin' nosy and oil-hungry then we'd be in the clear. Or at least we'd be in the clear er.
I don't know where I'm going with this, really, but I totally agree with Obama's new tax thing. The giving millions of dollars to insects, not so much.
I freaking hate bugs.

i dont know. i try not to become well-informed because most governmental policy strikes me as utter bullsh*t and the inefficiency of it all depresses me.
i think everyone should be taxed at a steady rate, regardless of the volume of their income.
my minimal insight into economics has led me to believe that if anyone has to get the short end of the stick, it should be the poor. why? because the rich have money to blow, and you can only have so many shoes, boats and cars. after they have spoiled themselves, they'll start blowing money on investments in companies and technologies. those companies will grow, and more jobs will be created. with more jobs, more people will be able to work and pull themselves out of poverty.
And god dammit, it WAS a psychological problem. There was a small issue, and people panicked. They sold the sh*t out of stocks etc, which flooded the market [a rise in supply] which diminished their value. That meant people lost a lot of money. Other people saw that there was an issue and pulled money out of banks and such, which caused a ton of problems bacause ofhow banks work-they arent boxes filled with money. When everyone tries to take out all their money, there are issues. Now, people didn't go spend it on things that would help balance the economy. They put it under a mattress or in their sock drawer. The banks cant lend the money that was removed, so other people cant spend either, which worsens the problem.
Maybe it wasnt entirely psychological, but it had a lot to do with it. [I realize my lack of specific examples and the swearing makes my argument seem like random bs, but I dont feel like being clear and concise today.]
Gah. So dunno where I'm going. Anyway.

i said the middle class were being taxed. that's exactly what i said. the people who were getting taxed the MOST were the upper-middle class. but every member of the middle class saw their taxes raise.

Well the Republicans were wrong. The majority of the spenders were middle class people, becuase the majority of the US population are middle-class. In Bush's case, he just didn't tax them becuase he was a moron, and figured that all of these rich Republicans that sit here and earn their money from oil, and the war that they aren't even supporting can keep every penny.
George Bush had no idea there was a recession starting. He, John McCain, and other Republicans stood up and said "This is all just phsycological." They thought we were stupid and weren't going through something as horrible as a recession.
Bush brought in most of the money from all of these oil companies in the Middle East. We bought oil from them and he figured he'd jack up the price on gas for all of us and that way he could bring in more money, and so could his Republican buddies that made their money the same way.
As far as taxing goes, the middle class HAVE been taxed sh*tless. I don't know where you've been, Miley Cyrus, but it is in fact the middle class that need the tax relief and these rich yuppies need to start paying up.

the people will the least amount of money hardly get taxed, actually.
the people with the most amount of money weren't getting taxed either, though.
the people who were really getting hit by bush's tax system were the upper middle class

what the hell.
people seriously think making people who have less money pay taxes will make the economy better? no wonder we're in a crisis.
I wasn't aware of this. I didn't think anyone could be THAT stupid.
o_o I guess I was wrong.

The two views on this.
Democratic: Tax the wealthy because they can afford it.
what you don't have is the Republican view.
you see, republicans view that the way to get the economy out of a depression is people buying things. How do you get people to buy things? You let them keep their money. The more money they have, the more they will spend. Now rich people have the most money (duh) and having the most money, they buy more expensive things. That's how Republicans receive a depression and how they think it should stop. Personally I think it's bullsh*t.
