Happy Saint Patty's Day From The People Who Don't Care
I'm so damn pissed that everyone makes such a big deal out of this day. I mean, we don't give a fuck about other saint's holidays, do we? Come on, people! And do you seriously want to follow the rule "Wear green or die from getting pinched by complete strangers."?
Who cares? No seriously, who would really care if we didn't have so many weird St. Patrick's traditions, like going to bars at noon?
And let's admit, people do have their stereotypes of the irish. There's leprechauns, booze, and lucky stuff like 4 leaf clovers. That's why St. Patrick's Day has all those traditions. St. Patrick is known for converting Ireland from Paganism to Christianity, and to celebrate, people get an excuse for wasting time in bars. Just 'cause they think they're being Irish, or what they think is Irish.

i'm Irish, and we don't waste time in bars. we reflect on the history of our roots. go to church, and stiz-uf like that. i agree with Le Metronome.

Why do people celebrate it? Because it's Ireland's national holiday. It's the day of the death of their patron saint.
So in other countries, people of that origin celebrate their roots. And other people go along with it because it's fun to celebrate. It would be like asking why you americans celebrate the 4th of July, Or why us Canadians celebrate the 1st of July.
Because that's the way it is. It's just that for us, it's the day of our independance. Look up ''national holiday'' and you'll see.
