I'm more inclined to like..
I'm more inclined to like a band if it's from the UK or Australia rather than America.
Don't get me wrong - I don't hate America or anything like that. In fact, as you all know, my favourite band is Green Day and they happen to be American. I just tend to like the British sound that UK rock has, rather than nasally American teenagers whining.
The American teenage nasally twang is what I can't stand about bands such as Fall Out Boy, Panic At The Disco and My Chemical Romance. Green Day don't seem to have that. Even ten years ago, when they were the same age as these new bands, they didn't have that.
I like the music from Fall Out Boy and Panic! ..I just can't stand their voices. Does that make me bad?
However, when you compare a song such as The Importance of Being Idle by Oasis to say, Welcome To The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance, without listening to the voices you can hear which one is American and which one is British.
I like the British sound better. I haven't heard an American band that can pull off that British sound. Green Day can a bit - I think - in some songs they do.
I wonder why that is.

What about Canadian, hm? *wiggles eyebrows*
Yeah, I see your point. But I'm sure there are tons of whiny British/Aussie bands.. they just haven't broken into the mainstream yet. Whereas in America, it seems so much easier to do so. I don't know if it is, but it sure as hell seems to be.
As for me, I just keep my ears open to whatever kind of music comes my way. If it sucks, then no. If it's good, then yes. :]

My Chemical Romance and Panic! At the Disco are just what's currently popular on American radio. Not all of our bands sound like they do. I sound nasally only because I have bad allergies. Maybe they do, too. I've never thought about the way we sound before. Hmm...

Yeah, that's trendy right now, so those are the bands that are successful because they get all the airplay.

..Good point, Kurtni.
I don't venture much into new American rock you see. For that main reason. All the ones that are played in Australia have that whole nasally thing going on.

Not all American rock bands sound like that, in fact the majority don't, those are just the ones that get overplayed on the radio.

Vibe reminds me of hippies wobbling their arms about and smoking pot saying the words Viiiiiibbbbeeee over and over again.

Muse, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and all those other classic bands, all from the U.K.
British music > American.

I have to say, I love Aussie bands.
Even if they're punk or rock they still all have this certain indie kinda vibe.
U.K bands.. Mmm.. somethimes they all end up sounding the same.
I like American bands, I listen to alot of them.
But Aussie bands always have my top vote.
Good blog Voomy.

I have no clue... I am british, and yes, I do agree that Americans sometimes do sound like they are singing through their noses. And Gerard Way has a very annoying speaking voice! He sounds like a chipmunk!
