Static-X: Cannibal (a preview and review)

As all Static-X fans probably know, the new album, Cannibal, is coming out on April 3rd. The album you'll see and listen to is not the same Static-X you may have come to know and love. It's the most heavy metal album they've had yet, with more screaming, repeating lyrics (Static-X admits this as well).

How could I already know what the tracks sound like and the order?

Well, I get songs immediatly when they're leaked Very Happy

1. Cannibal - Here it is, the song the album was named after. This song pretty much features an example of how this album is more heavy metal. They begin screaming a couple seconds into the song, then after a couple more seconds, the guitar begins. A pretty good song I guess.

2. No Submission - This song may sound familiar to a song on a horror movie. Well, it's featured on the Saw III soundtrack. Heart-racing guitar, and awesome drums in this song. Another song where they take up almost the whole thing screaming. I love the guitar solo though.

3. Behemoth - This song is pretty short and simple, but also a pretty good one. I'm just glad they didn't try to break their vocal chords in this one as much as some other songs.

4. Chemical Logic - I love the opening guitar to this song. The whole song is pretty good overall. The song has a pretty catchy sound to it. Fun to headbang too. And yet another screaming song, but not as pushed as some other songs.

5. Destroyer - This song you might recognize from the Destroyer EP. The song is addicting, and I have to stop myself from trying to sing it. So far yet another song where they don't scream as much. This reminds me of their older songs, so I like it as being one of the best songs on the CD.

6. Forty Ways - Oh great, a screaming song. After the streak of not having much screaming, they bring it back. Well, hear's one of the screamers delights. I don't like it very much..but whatever...

7. Chroma-matic - Woohoo, a song that sounds industrial in the beginning. Then comes a scream, so it's okay. Then a lot of screaming. For a screaming song, I guess it's pretty good though. And I can understand some words in it anyway Smile

8. Cuts You Up - Another song with an industrial sound in the beginning. Then screaming. I like the song anyway though. The refrain is really awesome. As a matter of fact, this is probably the best song on the CD in my opinion.

9. Reptile - Wow..a song about being eaten by a reptile. Not a favorite song from these guys. It's repititive in most parts...like everywhere. This song is a bit of a disgrace for the awesome name they gave it.

10. Electric Pulse - The very beginning reminds me of someone licking an electric socket for some reason. I like this song though, not near as much screaming, but just enough that I like it. Another pretty good song.

11. Goat - Haha, first Reptile, now Goat? Lmao. I like the drum beat, it reminds me of a hip-hop song. This song keeps a pretty good beat and keeps getting louder and adding more instruments. Then yelling and stuff. This song is okay I guess. It's not that bad. It's repititive again though D:

12. Team Hate - Zzzzz...same old stuff. Nothing really new from the rest of the CD, but it's actually kind of boring. I like it only a tiny bit, but it makes me sleepy. They say 'hate team', not 'team hate' D: Weird song.

13. Light It Up - n/a (this song and Get Up And Boogie weren't leaked, you guys are gonna have to wait and see for yourself for these songs).

14. Get Up And Boogie - n/a

So there you go! A review and preview of Cannibal by Static-X, out April 3rd. I can't wait...
