New Album Release Date?
In what is sure to spark a blanket of controversy over the next few months, MTV Italy has listed a tentative release date for Linkin Park's third original album.

The currently untitled disc is scheduled for a May 26th release date, however, note that the 26th occurs on a Friday. All CDs released outside of America are released on a Monday, therefore, the date should only be taken as a rough estimate.

Drummer Rob Bourdon has recently pointed out via email that the band will be going into pre-production soon and announced that Linkin Park planned to start touring "mid-late '06".

Rob's New Album Update
Drummer Rob Bourdon stopped by the official Linkin Park website today to give us an update on the process behind the creation of the new album.

"We have been writing new songs for the next album for the last three months or so. We have been working in pairs out of our home studios and trading ideas with each other every few weeks. Now that we have a bunch of material, we are going to head into a pre-production studio where we will all be working together. We have three separate rooms to work out of at the studio, which is really cool because we can still work individually if we need to. I personally like taking song ideas and working on the drums for a while on my own before letting the other guys hear what I have come up with. Songs can be passed around from room to room so each of us can add in our part. Since we are all there together we can help each other to develop each of our parts and create the best songs possible. It is the ultimate creative environment for how we write music, since we write by recording into a computer, not by jamming together. We currently have around 50 rough ideas for songs, which will be narrowed down to about 15 when we enter the recording studio. We are very excited about the work we have done so far, and working hard to get it done so you guys can hear it. Look for more info on our new album in the coming months on LinkinPark.com."

Singer/songwriter Holly Brook posted on her blog that the video for 'Where'd You Go?', Fort Minor's second US single has been shot. Brook, who's a featured artist on the track had this to say:

"Last week we shot the video for "Where'd You Go" and that was a great time. I had never done a video shoot before and was surprised to see how much shooting was actually done.... Most of the time was spent on doing hair and makeup, fixing the lights, etc. Actual on camera time was minimal, but fun. Can't wait to see the finished piece!"

There is no word yet on when the video will premiere.

Mike recently posted this tantalizing tidbit on Linkin Park Underground;

"LP is up for a grammy for "best rap / sung collaboration" as some of you know. we'll be there to see the show and what not, so remember to tune in...but i wanted to make sure you're following the press we're doing that day, because we're going to be announcing a small bit of news that is pretty cool (i think)."

The Grammys air February 8th on CBS.

In a phone interview for the Twin Cities Pioneer Press, Mike Shinoda exclaimed that fans can expect a new album by the end of the year, he just doesn't know exactly when. "I wish I could tell you when," he said, "but I'm writing for Linkin Park while I'm touring with Fort Minor. That's what I'll be doing on the bus."

As mentioned earlier, Linkin Park plan on going into the studio for pre-production within the next few months.
