At my school they wouldn't care either.
They'd see scars and be like 'someone cuts themsleves'
They would not care about the person.
Just that someone cuts.
Yeah, there was this one girl who use to go to school with me
and she use to cut all the time and she never hid it.
So that means everyone, including the teachers saw the scars.
It was also pretty obvious that they were self - done and still, nothing.
It disgusts me really that nobody tried to help her.
Counsellors only help kids that come to them and even then they manage to fuck that up aswell. The counsellors at my schools have broken up two families that I know of. >.<
I would never go to them for help, but thats just my opinion.

So recently, a girl in my class cut her wrist-artery [is that what its called?] Well, she slit her wrist.
We all knew she cut herself, but before, it was on her upper arm because she didnt want the attention.
So, she was wearing a bandaid over the huge scar, and i was like "What happened to your wrist?" because i thought she'd stopped. So she pulls off the bandaid and said it was an accident, that someone was holding a knife up in the air and she happened to like, wave her arm into the arm into the knife o.O
Well, were not close at all, and a friend of mine was having some sort of riff with her, so i didnt really talk to her, but some of the girls pulled her out and asked her what had happened...
K, so it shows we kinda care, but i guess not enough to help her, mostly because we dont know where to get the help. We have a school-counsellor but shes only there on Fridays and it was early in the week; like, Monday.
We didnt even tell the teacher o.O
I just feel so bad because i cant really help her. She wouldnt take my words serious if i even showed her that i care and that i think she should get help.
Attention-seeking cutters = Bleh.
But i think its insensitive to just say "Well, fuck that, shes just stupid for even cutting at all" and disliking her/any other person because they cut. D'you ever think they cut for other than attention? o.O

I hate how heaps of people who think ALL cutters 'do it for attention' that just makes me so mad. even if they do it for attention, they should be getting some attention, perhaps they are trying to draw attention to the fact that they need help...

I have self harmed. I would die if anyone i know found out. I know about 10 people who self harm and everyone knows, and nobody cares. its like 'oh look another try hard emo cutting to be cool' im too cowardly to kill myself, its disgusting.

I agree. There's about 4 people I really care about. Other people, I'm friends with, but it's not like I really care about them. The 4 people I care about are people I know from the internet, as well.
At the hospital, we have to cover any cuts/burns/whatever in case other people see and want to try it themselves - in a 'that works for them it might work for me' kind of way, but during P.E. we normally wear short sleeves. Some of the younger kids who don't really understand self-harm or how our scars got there ask what happened, which is a bit awkward, mainly because it's not the sort of thing you want to discuss with kids, especially when it's quite nice in a way that they don't know yet, so we say stuff like "Edward Scissorhands needed a hug"
The last place I was in made you cover self-harm too, but they were more strict about it and the woman (who was a complete dragon) said "you must cover any cuts or bruises in case other patients see it and are tempted to steal your sharp things to kill themselves" when I'd only been there 45 minutes ._. it was horrible. I didn't believe in covering our scars for weeks, I thought it was unfair and made me feel ashamed of something that I never have been in the place where we're supposed to feel the most safe, but my psychologist told me there was a girl who used to be in there who used to cut herself very badly, and 5 of the kids who'd never done it before started cutting when they were in there because they saw it work for her.

And you think life is always peachy and enjoyable? If you do, that's terribly idealistc, and you've been terribly sheltered. I don't understand how you can clearly state this is something you know little about, then go and make a statement claiming it's terrible and stupid. I'll say that it's terribly tragic when it occurs, but Im also fairly sure the basis of Christianity is that your sins are forgiven correct? So, unless you happen to be Jesus in a funny little costume..how can you say that people go to hell? (well, first I'd love to know how you can prove it exists but that's off topic)
Im sure that's exactly what people who selfharm need to hear "How stupid and terrible of you do to that..." There is obviously other options to self harming, but it would be idealistc to assume that everyone can see those at all times, or that everyone has someone who cares enough to show them that. Saying things like that only adds to the negative emotions being felt. Saying things so negative leads to people feeling more inferior than they already do. Instead of judging and ridiculing, why not try and stop the problem? Why not try and help? I can tell you right now, doing nothing at all would be ALOT better than making statement saying they are stupid and terrible.

Is that really needed? She was stating her opion. Disagree with it, thats up to you. But you don't need to be so mean about it.
