Smoking

I think smoking is one of the most discusting habits anyone could fall into. I mean, sure its your body, but second-hand smoke hurts others too. But if you choose to smoke, I guess thats your decision, and yours alone, even if you are slowly killing yourself.

in the uk they have now ban smoking everywhere, the new law will come in by summer 2007, no smoking in bars or pubs/ public places.
is that a dumb law or not?
i think it is, it wont stop peolpe smoking either it will effect the money income of pubs or people will break the law and do it anyway.

It's a good law because it saves lives. Simple as.

I don't care about the money. I care about the passive smokers who are going to lead longer and healthier lives now.

Banning smoking won't save anyone's life. Just because they can't smoke in public doesn't mean they'll quit.

no but it means people like me who dont smoke can live longer and have a better night out with friends, or have a better meal. And i wont come home hacking my lungs up and smelling like a stinky old ash tray.

my dad is one of the healthiest people I know, he's only been sick from work once in his life, his parents were heavy smokers when he was growing up

I know second-hand smoke causes MILD symptoms for some one who's around it their whole life but it just isn't worth kicking out Smoking sections in resturaunts

I don't think it could harm you in public places and there is no circumstantial evidence to prove it (there's much propaganda though.....stretching the truth to its limits

Personly I'd rather kick out smoking sections in restraunts now than find out in a few years that second hand smoke can kill after the damage has been done.

it is worth evry bit of time and energy that it takes to ban smoking in resturants, i dont want soem bloke sitting behind me smoking a big fat cigar and ok there are areas in resturants that smokers are allowed but i still go home stinking of smoke and i have an asthma attack when i get home, some people have told me "well why do you go out" because i am allopwed to and i should be able to do it without getting sick, smokers dont realise that its a disgusting habit it is close to spiting on the streets.

Also, being a pyrophobe I prefer it because I'm scared shitless of a cushion catching fire and the whole place going up in minutes (like the Stardust in Dublin... It was most likely caused by a falling cigarette but has not been proven. 48 young people died. No charges were pressed on Eamon Butterly, the owner even though he had locked the fire exits. Go fucking figure.)

He should have been lynched for what he did. I live five minutes away from his business park. My mother was in that building the week before with her sister, niece and nephew.

i can it doesnt matter where you are 15ft away or 20ft away you can still smell smoke. I ore people are smoking than non smokers then you can smell it.

15 feet isn't a big distance at all. Are you talking about Pubs or Restaurants?.

Well your fingers turn yellow over time, oyur teeth rot adn turn yellow again over time, your skin looks older than what it is, you smell, your clothes smell, your house smells, it effects people around you your kids your family your friends, the list is endless.

oh yeah and it can cause all sorts of cancers lung cancer the most popular.

Exactly. My auntie died of lung cancer caused by smoking. It was so sad. She was suffering for weeks in hospital, coughing up blood, then she came home because they thought she was better, then died. It was so fucking sad.

i smoke, and i regret it, i wanna quit...but its hard as fuck! i know its bad for me and that i shouldnt but its hard when you wnat a fag to not have one!
