Yet I would prefer not smoking, because I don't wanna be those people who smoke everywhere and blow the smoke in everyone's faces. My mom smokes a lot, my dad smokes sometimes, my sister smokes, and then her friend comes over and smokes, basically our house is just a big ashtray. It sucks.

It's his guess at best, but he makes a very valid point about anti-smoking campaigns. They really don't do much. If you ask every non-smoker you know why they don't smoke, they'll tell you about 328497349 different things, but it's unlikely that any of them will say "well, I saw this ad on not smoking, and...."

those were made up statistics by some one who knows almost every smoker in the city (I just have to go to the one club in my city that allows underage smoking and they all hang out there
I was just making the point that where some people are right about some kids smoking for the cool factor, most don't and anti-smoking does more harm than good

i don't think its that big a deal , my dad smokes , he's beem smoking since he was 18 ... he's now 58
i've been around it my entire life

Yeah, thats ture. The temptation to do something is so much greater when you shouldnt be doing it. I dyed my hair purple because my mom told me not too, and I really didnt even care for it. Having purple hair won't give me lung cancer, but it's the same Physicological effect.

My mom and dad smoked ALOT, my dad had sence he was 12 along with some other drugs by the time he was 13 he had tried everything more than once, i grew up with it and so now i have throat problems because of 2cnd hand smoking all the time, because of that i hated it so much that i would take all of there HUGE packs of sigaretes(sp) and burn them, i was little so i didn't get in trouble, it soon occured to them they were damaging my lungs (so now i have periods when i can't breath, and no its not asma(sp)) So they finally quit, and i am so thankful, now all my friends are smoking and im pretty much sad for them and trying to help them as much as i can but still being a good friend at that.

i agree, the anti-smoking ads are just going to make people pissed off. people who are trying to quit but can't will just feel guilty about it after seeing an anti-smoking ad. others who didn't smoke before will just say, "fuck them, i'll do what i want" and start smoking in spite of the ads. both my parents used to smoke but quit several years ago. one thing that annoys me is that in new jersey (where i live) people aren't allowed to smoke in any public places. there used to be special smoking sections in bars, resturants, etc. but not anymore. also, in nj you have to be 19 to buy cigarettes, whereas you have to be 18 to buy them in the other states. i even heard that some congressman wants to ban people from smoking in their cars. i mean, i don't smoke and never plan on smoking, but that's just wrong.

I cannot stand smoking.
For one, ciggarette companies are some of the most evil people out there.
Two. It's idiotic, and a slow suicide. It hurts yourself, and people around you.
My whole family smokes. I've grown up around it. I have asthma, and I cannot be in the same room with my family members when they smoke, or else, I cannot breath. My lungs have probably been severly damaged due to all of the second hand smoke I have been exposed to my entire life.
My mother recently had a heart attack from smoking so much. She's got to quit now, along with my step-father. And now, my house is now smoke-free. I've never been so happy...
Smokers don't realize what they're doing to themselves until its too late.
...And the thing I don't understand is how people can still smoke ciggarettes even with those horrid warnings on the cartons now. And then, when they get lung cancer or some disease, they act like they didn't expect it to happen, and they're full of regret, when they did it to themselves...
I believe where I live [Ontario, Canada] is now smoke-free. You cannot smoke in restaurants and bars. I have never been so thankful. I cannot stand when I'm sitting there, trying to eat my meal, and people are smoking, and polluting the air I breath with their horrid second-hand smoke. It's rude, and inconciderate.
If you're going to smoke, don't smoke around other people, and in the privacy of your own home, or outdoors.
They have these laws for a reason. It's for our own health. It's not their to piss people off, or discriminate.
