The 2008 Summer Olympics

As most of you know, many people are anti-Bush (Which makes you wonder how he won. ) anyway, some people aren't just anti-Bush, but anti-American like say the Russian and Chinese Olympic teams.

Apparently the Russians and Chinese have teamed up against the Americans for the 2008 Summer Olympics held in Beijing, China I believe. According to a Russian olympian, they want to show that sports considered to be American sports, don't have to be completely American and that others can play and win sports such as swimming, track, basketball and such.

Now this seems like a reasonable statement, considering it's kinda true, the Olympics are supposed to be about unity not Americanization. But, there is a line that has been crossed. They have gone so far as to share coaches, get other countries into their pact, and the Chinese have even taught the people to cheer for Russia if there are no Chinese competing in the event.

Other counrties in the Olympic alliance agreed to stop America from winning the majority of medals include Azerbijain and Taiwan.

people are sick of our bullshit and are trying to end it...theyre making a statement and they have a right to it...it seems ridiculous from the standpoint of many americans im sure, but i for one have no problem with it.

if your talking about the american wins, its just because we earned, enough said.

and people should have the right to cheer on whoever they want, but 1-asking people to cheer for you or your friend is wrong and 2-to a big extent, the cheering doesnt have much to do with the athletes performance. i know personnaly that the cheers dont do much, because you dont hear it. but, when your best friend says, i really hope you win this, it goes further, but how many people are going to do taht to and olympic athlete with all the terrorist things and high security?

where did you hear that?? ridiculous, we don't hv to be taught by anyone, we will cheer for any one only if we think he/she is a great athlete, no matter what countries they are from. Don't think we are that stupid!!

I think that was proven when America failed to win Basketball and Baseball at the last Olympics (2004 in Athens).

Swimming is hardly American, heck not even. America has some good swimmers, but they don't have the best. Neither are track sports, they existed long before the United States of America did.

well that's kinda stupid *feels embarrassed by own government*. the olympics and american politics are apples and oranges. if american athletes win then it's just a testament (sp?) to their dedication to training, their competitiveness, their athletic prowess etc. provided they're not on drugs, of course. i think this is taking it a little too far...
