Comic tragedy Idiot ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 546 | Mhairi.: I was considered goth, when I haven't even come close. The only reason I was called that was because I wore black eyeliner (not even the way goths wear it) and I like rock music. I don't have black hair, I don't wear black every day, so you're right, people should get their labels right! |
Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | criminals are called criminals chavs are called chavs goths are called goths preps are called preps and so on its what they are called they put themselves in a certain group and they should put up with being called what they are, and there are a certain group of people who when come into the shop where i unfortunatly work we are told to follow them around all the time not letting them out of our sight and they wear those big baggy hoodies with the hoods up, and also the tracksuit wearing people who wear them zipped right up so that you cant see they're faces because why dont you want people to see what you look like, to me the answer is this: because you are either going to do somthing wrong or have already done it, hoodies should be banned (i know not many of you will be happy about that) in shops and shopping centres, if you dont want people to know what you look like you have done somthing or doing somthing wrong, |
Plug In Baby. Addict ![]() Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 11334 | Lucifers Angel: ... or maybe they like having the hoodie zipped up very high. Maybe that is the kind of thing they like wearing. Why should an item of clothing be banned? Not everyone who wears one is going to steal something, that is an outrageous claim. I wear a hoodie all the goddamn time, and I have never, and would never steal something. |
Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | Coff: ok you may never steal anything, but when there is a sign on a door saying please no hoodies in the shop they should respect that and then they wouldnt get followed everywhere would they? also when you have been a victim of a crime that involved hoodies i am affraid this is how you get. |
Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | Hoodie ban, is it fair? Prime Minister Tony Blair wants to deal with bad behaviour linked to the wearing of hoodies. But will this make any difference to crime rates or simply make hoodies even more popular? Wear your favourite hoodie and you just might find yourself in big trouble in some shopping centres and schools around the country! Hooded tops are no longer just a fashion item. They are part of a discussion about what many see as an increase in badly behaved young people. Hoodies are used by some criminals to hide their faces so CCTV cameras can’t identify them. Also, many people say they feel threatened by groups of young people wearing hoodies. Bluewater in Kent, the country’s largest shopping centre, has banned hoodies to try to cut down on crime and to make shoppers feel safer. Those caught wearing hoodies pulled up over their heads will be asked to leave. Tony Blair is in favour of this ban but others are not. The Children’s Society is so angry about it that they are encouraging young people not to shop there. Bob Reitemeier, their Chief Executive, said, ‘We are concerned that our society is becoming increasingly intolerant of young people in general.’ Leah Savory from the children’s charity NCH, ‘For the majority, wearing a hood is more about wearing clothes that are young and fashionable than about looking deliberately intimidating and threatening.’ Some youngsters have actually been banned from wearing hoodies because of their poor behaviour. In January, two teenagers from Leamington Spa were told in court that they were not to wear their hoodies in public. Another teenager from Manchester was banned from wearing a hoodie for five years!School ban Teachers at Maesteg Comprehensive School in Wales have told their pupils that hoodies will be confiscated if worn at school. Head teacher Anne Carhart said, ‘we are particularly concerned… hoodies are being used to hide pupils’ identities.’ Many think it is unfair to blame hooded tops and young people for the rise in crime. Bob Reitemeier from the Children’s Society said, ‘children and young people are almost twice as likely to be victims of crime than any other group.’ We asked some of our readers to join the debate over hoodies. Jodie 15 from Cumbria said: ‘Young people are being grouped together and blamed for the behaviour of a minority. I wear my hoodie because it keeps me warm and looks good. I don’t wear it to appear menacing.’ Kyle, 13, from Inverness agreed. ‘When I wear my hoodie in public I just want to be seen as me, not as a suspect. The bans on hooded sweatshirts are just not fair and should be lifted at once.’ ------------------------------------------------------- hoodie ban is it fair YES!!!!!!!!!!! |
Incubus Jackass ![]() Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 1820 | No way should hoddies be banned. For one thing they keep you warm and if it rains they keep you dry and lets face it a lot of teenagers wouldn't be seen dead in a rain coat -I sure as hell wouldn't, I'd rather get wet. And if you ban hoodies its not going to stop people from shop lifting, they're just going wear a cap so next thing you know, they'll be banning caps. It's ridiculas it doesn't matter what a shoplifter is wearing if they want to nick something they're going to do it hoodie or not, they're just going to find other ways to hide their identity. I think a compromise would be the best thing, simply if you're going into a shop wearing a hoodie you have to take the hood down -which is what most polite people do anyway- that way your showing you've got nothing to hide. |
Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | Mhairi.: ok look at it like this your walking down the road at night behind an old lady who is scared because you have got your hood up and hiding your face what is she suppose to think? Hoodies should be used responsibly. and yeah most polite people would take they're hoods of while in shops but i know that if i walk up to a kid wearing one they will just give me a load of verbal hassle and be arrogant, (ok again not all of them) and i am affraid to walk up to people wioth these unsociable hoods on they're heads why should i "a tax payer" be affraid to walk out my front door. |
Kurtni Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 34289 ![]() ![]() | Lucifers Angel: Thats insanely judgmental. Why should you be judging someone? It's a hood for christs sake, it isnt like they are walking around with guns on there heads, it's a piece of cloth. Thats so absurd to judge someone based on what they wear. People who wear hoodies pay taxes too, why should they have their freedoms limited to make you happy? |
Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | Kurtni: i tell you why i will be judgementle, right Yesterday on my way to work i was mugged by a gang of 4 kids wearing hoodies they stole my mobile phone and money, and the worst part was the fact on the phone i had pictures of my kids, so please dont tell me not to be so judgementle i think i have a good reason. |
Kurtni Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 34289 ![]() ![]() | Lucifers Angel: Umm, no, that just proves exactly why you're judgmental. Your basing a your views on a whole group of people based on a few that you have seen. Thats what being judgmental is and there is never a good reason to be judgmental. |
Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | Kurtni: its not what i've seen its what i have been through and what else can i call it anger? |
Kurtni Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 34289 ![]() ![]() | Lucifers Angel: That doesnt matter. You're still judging people, and thats not fair. If charles Manson had brown hair, does that mean that all people with brown hair are murders? No, it doesnt. it is extremely unfair to assume that people wearning hoodies are bad kids or people. You don't even know them, how can you judge them? |
Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | Kurtni: because they scare me a lot, and also it does matter to me, so people should walk the streets feeling scared that somthing will happen, its ok for people to walk along feeling worried about going shopping? no its not right and yes i know not all kids who wear these hoodies are ass holes and just a few but somtimes in this world you should understand that if you dress like someone who has gotr somthing to hide then that is what people will think, young people do not run this world and god forbid the generation (NOT ALL OF YOU) now is going to be adults soon my god how is that going to effect people. And like i said b4 i know most kids are good kids but its just one of those things i am affraid. Perhaps again like i said i am angry and pehaps i will calm down in a few days but right now this is how i feel. |
Kurtni Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 34289 ![]() ![]() | Lucifers Angel: How can you be scared of people you don't even know? The fact that what they wear matters to you, proves that you do have a stereotype to you. Clothing isnt something to hold against people. And dress like people? Lots of hoodies have logo's and band named on them, if you like that, why should you change to make other people happy? you shouldn't. It's their life, their clothes. If people feel scared of that, I feel no sympathy for them, they shouldnt judge people. Clothes are attatchments, it isnt like you can look at someones socks and say "Oh, blue socks, they're going to rape me!" You can't do that. Just like you can't see a hoodie and say "Oh, bad people..." Thats stereotyping and discrimintaing. Do you support racism too? And sexism? Those are discriminating too. |
Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | Kurtni: because i didnt know the people who mugged me, |
Kurtni Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 34289 ![]() ![]() | Lucifers Angel: Thats no excuse to judge other people. |
Plug In Baby. Addict ![]() Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 11334 | I_worship_tre_Cool: Yeah, exactly, that is such a weak excuse. Just because you are scared of them? Pfft. I could be scared of anyone that wears a cap. I could be scared of anyone that wears long socks. God forbid, many people are scared of metal heads, and the way I dress, and my friends that dress the same way. Does that mean, just because some people find the way I dress "anti-social" and "scary" that I should change? Thats absurd. You're judging millions of people by a group that you've had a bad experience with. If you are scared of these people, take a different way home. Go a way where there are lots of people. But don't judge millions of people, just because you were mugged by 4 people who happened to be wearing hoods. |
The Doctor Falling In Love With The Board ![]() Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 8786 ![]() ![]() | It's just neo-territorialism. Like, instead of your surname like in Scotland so many years back with the clans, they use physical and social statues as their targets. It's quite primitive, you must agree. info from my History teacher from two years ago. |
Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | Coff: i dont think its a lame excuse, Take a differant way home, Well i cant i have to catch that bus because that is the only one i can take, WHY should i have to go elsewhere because of what happend? Why cant the people who did what they face the fall out regarding what they did? I think i know why because society doesnt blame them it blames they're perants, and lack of schooling somtimes a kid is just a bad kid for no other reason. |
Plug In Baby. Addict ![]() Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 11334 | But what does this have to do with hoodies, apart from the fact that the people who mugged you were infact wearing hoodies? everyone wears hoodies. Its not just bad people, not just good people, most people, at least in Australia, in the winter time, wear hoodies. |
