Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | Coff: because they were invented to hide peoples faces and anything that hides your face is wrong, it makes it easier for people like the group who mugged me get away with it, ok not all people who wear hoodies are dangerous but at least take the hoods of on busses or going into shops and they should be used to intimidate people. |
Plug In Baby. Addict ![]() Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 11334 | No. They were invented to keep your head warm. If I were you, I'd get my facts and history straight. |
Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | Coff: so why does a certain group oif people use them to hide they're faces, obviously you havent been through what i did, and if you did you might even change your mind on what your saying. should it be ok to use hoodies as a form of intimidation? or to worry people? |
Kurtni Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 34289 ![]() ![]() | Lucifers Angel: What I dont get is why you're being so judemental. You even keep saying a small percentage of people, why are you stereotyping everyone? It's immature and selfish to ask people to change who they are to meet someone elses needs i, when it isnt even a need. Its clothes. Im wearing a hoodie as I type this, it doesnt mean Im going to shoot someone. What you have been through isnt relevant in this arguement because what you went through doesnt effect the entire population of the world, but banning hoodies would effect alot of it. |
Matt Smith Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 31134 ![]() ![]() | Lucifers Angel: I disagree with that, because in the case of Islamic women (I know i'm picking on one group of people here) they wear a khimar (I think?) to cover their heads and faces for relgious reasons that are very important to them as a culture and religion. Personally I don't have a problem with that, because it is part of their faith. |
anti-christ of suburbia Idiot ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 986 ![]() | stereotyping causes a lot of problems. i mean, yeah some of the time its true, but for the majority its not. like for example, some old people think all teenagers are yobs because some act like that. and then everyone else suffers for it. thats just an example, but a lot of it is the same. |
ColleenStarship Addict ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 11991 | we need labels, but i think its wring to use labels or stereotpyes 'against' someone. Like use them to tease and what not |
John Entwistle Great Success! ![]() Age: 36 Gender: Female Posts: 55036 | Labels suck! I hate them. Last year, labels took over my life. I eventually got over it. I wanted to be punk. I did all I could to be punk. I was totally off. Now, I dress how I want. I haven't necessarily started dressing different, but I stopped trying. Maybe I'm still a poser, but it doesn't matter to me anymore. I just labeled myself. Oops. Also they are so many labels and stereotypes in rock. I hate. The bands are called posers or not punk or something like that. We have heavy metal, alternate rock, punk rock, pop rock, christian rock. It's so confusing. The fans are called posers for liking bands they think are punk. Theirs emo, punk, goth, skater, and others. It's annoying. Why do we have to have those labels? It's too confusing and half the people don't know the difference. |
ColleenStarship Addict ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 11991 | Stuck_On_Green_Day: we need them because not all rock bands are alike Green Day sound different then From First To Last and they sound different compared to AFI. Sub-genres are needed, other wise there would be more fighting over what is and isn't rock. |
Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | ok now that i have calmed down a LOT i am willing to say that i will not ban hoodies but i will say that if you wear them you should be aware that they can intimidate people. |
Kurtni Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 34289 ![]() ![]() | Lucifers Angel: Yeah, and you shouldnt care at all about what judgmental fools would find "intimidating". If someone is going to judge you based on your clothes then their opinion shouldnt matter to you anyways. |
ColleenStarship Addict ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 11991 | i'm intimidated by old ladies walking around with canes ...... they should be aware that they can intimidate people |
Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | Viva La Stupid: old ladies sometimes have no choice but to use a walking cane, people have a choice about what they wear, and i did say sorry to everyone i upset or pissed of. |
Plug In Baby. Addict ![]() Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 11334 | Lucifers Angel: Nuh, what if its, like, minus a zillion degrees? And its freezing. Hoodies are also warm |
Kurtni Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 34289 ![]() ![]() | Lucifers Angel: You can say sorry all you like, this is a discussion forum, and If I disagree with you, I'll tell you anyways, sorry doesnt really matter... ![]() I find it funny that you say peopl have a choice over what they wear, but you don't want them to have the choice to wear hoodies. Double standards.... Some people have views and feel intimidated by people of a different race. Should we just ask them to move somewhere or make them leave because some other person doesnt feel comfortable around them? I sure how you would say no to that. You whole anti-hoodie thing is the exact same concept, discrimination. You're judgeing people, and thats wrong. |
waiting_a_long_time Idiot ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 540 | I think that for society to function properly, labels and stereotypes need to exist, there will always be someone at school who is different, someone who stands out from the croud, someone whos a good leader, someone who bullies, someone who gets bullied. human beings as a race will never get along with everyone they meet. people will stand out, personalities will clash. you can tell, when you wont get along very well with someone. calling someone "asian" is not an insult if they ARE asian, same goes with short people and red heads (i am one myself) groups have rivals, usually their opposites., it's like red vs. blue. punks vs. rappers boys vs. girls so called "goths" will always be outcasts. outcats will generally be called "nerds" when someone is better at someone else at sport, at school, at art, i assure you there will be some for of derogetory remark eg. at my school, if a girl is good at sport they get called "tank" this is because in society it is not "acceptable" to excel at something, if the so-called popular people dont want you to. its sort of like a jelousy thing... i dont think i made much sense.. sorry |
Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | I_worship_tre_Cool: there is always and should be room for sorries, if you are big enough to say sorry then the world would run smoother. |
dysLEXIa King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 3542 | I intimidate people because I'm taller than many people here. =P Then again, I confuse them because I'm mostly blonde, yet I've been told I'm very inteligent and everything, so I get stares. haha, okay, but that's besides the point. As you guys said, labels are completely natural. Everyone does it (not a steryotypical thing either). It's like saying who's female and male (though not so drastic). Persoanlly, I get weirded out standing around those hardcore gangsters. I know many personally and they don't bother me, but sometimes I think it's just because we look at each other so differently, there's always this chance for disputes. As for music, I try hard not to label music. "emo" is now being used much of the time as a derogatory term, I don't even use it. Mostly because I've been labeled emo many times. But anyways, I only use the major labels like metal, hard rock, rock n' roll, pop punk, punk, and pop-rock (then christian rock, but I haven't listened to that in so long). Other than that, I don't listen to it really. *shrug* |
Love my insanity Jackass ![]() Age: 93 Gender: Female Posts: 1591 | Someone just made a thread about the "emo" thread, claimnig there was no such thing as a goth music genre. Do your research, there are lots. Whether its goth punk, or just plain goth. The Damned started out pure punk, but in the later years slowly encorporated goth thnigs, and became more goth then punk. TSOL can be considered goth with their lyrics. |
Fashion Zombies! Jackass ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 1168 ![]() ![]() | Stereotypes- Who cares? They can be annoying but theres worse that can happen. People who get labelled "Emo" take it too seriously. Discrimination- Sucks. Enough said. I've been stereotyped "The loser" at school so the "popular people" come up and tease me. I don't even know their names so I can't go to the principal or tell anyone. Like they'd care...Last time I went they said it's my own fault ![]() |
