One question I do have to this whole legal sex age issue is : How will this be enforced?
I mean, hey, illegal drug use and underage drinking are illegal also, but yet no matter where one goes, you'll find both being done.
Are the police supposed to monitor every minor until he or she reaches the legal age to prevent them from having sex?
You can't really, it's put in place more for the purpose of preventing older people from taking advantage of younger people below the legal sex age. It would be impossible to make sure every single teenager didn't have sex before a certain age, and a waste of time to try I think.

Still, I think it'd be so hard to enforce. I mean, I know a million girls who lie about their age to get into clubs, or just to impress older guys.
And then there are some adults who simply wouldn't respect it. I think in a sense it's a very good thing to have, just hard to enforce, you know?

I agree, it is hard to enforce. usually you only hear of it being enforced when a teenage girls parents find out she was dating someone older than they liked and they press charges.

Exactly.
Which is just so terrible to do to a person.

Young billy and sally fooling around on the couch
billy: come on sally lets go all the way.
sally: but billy, what about the NN police.
billy: nobody's here don't worry
sally: oh ok billy
*SUDDENLY, flashing blue lights appear outside the window, men start climbing down ropes from helicopters
S*W*A*T team guy: DO NOT REMOVE YOUR CLOTHES WE HAVE THE PLACE SURROUNDED.
*billy turns to the camera*
billy: darn the No Nookie police, how's a guy supposed to get lucky
narrator: well billy you'll just have to wait a couple of years
billy: awww shucks.

Well, put it this way. You're going out with a guy, you're 13, 14, he's 18, 19, 20. He pressures you into something you don't want to do. Two weeks later, he's dumped you, because he's got what he wanted, and you regret what happened. So you press charges. It's much easier when he's above the legal age and you're not.

if you become pregnant underage, then the midwives and nurses, and your GP can inform the police, i knew a man who got caught for having sex with his girlfriend for that very reason, the GP called the police.

I think the legal sex age should be the same for all sexual orientations, but I don't see that big of a need for one. I mean it's great for the kids who'll actually listen to the laws, or have brains enough to wait, but how many kids do you know that know the legal sex age, follow it, and are responsible enough that if they were to break the age a little; know what they were getting into?
Plus, it's difficult to enforce.
My post was pointless because it's all been said.

If there was a legal sex age, I'd say it should be like 16 or something. Because as far as I know, that's when a lot of teenages start to have sex. I mean, I've never heard of anyone doing it in middle school. But then again, that's just me.
And also, I think it's kind of stupid. I mean, it sounds ideal to have a legal age, but when it comes down to one's own body, it's not going to work out. And it's not the world's best idea to have the government poke around in our lives too much. That government is best which governs least.
But what could be done is have like...ID shown if you want to buy contraceptive stuff. Like when people buy alchohol. So if you go to planned parenthood, they'll be like "I'm sorry miss, but I'll need to see some ID". Or at Walgreens if you want condoms or spermicide.
Does this sound too stupid?

But then wouldn't the teenagers who want sex just have it without using any contraceptive methods. Its not like cigarettes, so we cant buy it legally then we wont take it after all. Not being able to buy pills and condoms wont make teenagers stop having sex they will just do it without any safety.

But there's still a fair amount of responsible teenage couples who don't want to end up with a kid.

And then again, I know so little. Your idea would be flawless if it wasn't for the hormones... And dumb, irresponsible teenagers.

The idea of a legal sex age is filled with so many flaws, even though it really works out in theory. And my idea has just as many flaws. People could get an older sibling or older friend to get the stuff. They could get faked IDs. And the biggest flaw of all, people will have sex without protection.
But I repeat, there are teenagers who realize the consequences of unprotected sex. Pregnancy, AIDS, VD, etc. Those are the couples who will try their hardest to wait until they are the legal age, which I think should be about 16 or 17.
Maybe they could make hormone suppressants? ... *cough* Excuse the idiocy of that statement.
You're gonna force straight people to have sex at a certain age, you should force all kinds of sexualities at the same age. Although like it matters, it's not changing anything. Here, Illinois, USA it's 16. I know 13-14 who have sex. It's not working. It's basically like the law where you can't spit on the sidewalks. It's not enforced. It's in the books but no one gives a REAL shit about it.

How in the hell are they forcing you to? They do no such thing!
